I'd be very surprised if this is shown on FTA TV, surely to god Sky or Primetime must see this as a profit fight for them on PPV??

According to digital spy ITV are the favourites to show the fight (im as suprised as you are) apparently they are trying to get GBP to bring the fight forward and hour so it starts at 12. Dont know how true it is but they're usually right on alot of things.

Arent the govenment trying to pass a bill that means british FTA channels will now have to show a fair share of national sporting events or events that involve a national sportperson, due to the tv license fee starting to be spread about.

I could be way off the mark!

The Mirror story is bang on the money. My friend who told me yesterday is a VERY good source to confirm this. Interesting to see the title has been edited back again. (other than adding a question mark) :TU:

Story in The Bolton News on Thursday, which claimed that no U.K. T.V. deal for the fight has been agreed yet, but that the camp have options, and will make/announce their decision soon:
BOXING: Amir Khan’s management have rubbished stories that they are struggling to agree a deal to televise his upcoming defence of his world title.

The Bolton boxer’s business manager, Asif Vali, said there were several options to be considered and a decision had not yet been made.

“We have already tied up a deal in America with HBO and we have several options here, not just with Sky,” he said.

“We will be considering them over the next few days before making our decision, but Amir’s fans in Britain will be able to see him.”

Khan will fight for the first time in the USA on May 15 when he makes a WBA light-welterweight title defence against Paulie Malignaggi in New York.

It has been reported that offers from ITV and ESPN have not materialised and the fight, at Madison Square Garden, will be shown on Sky Box Office, but not for the amount of money the Khan camp had hoped for.

The would for Khan.

Khan must be asking Sky for too much money.

Really not bothered what channel it is on.

As long as Khan is well and truly stuffed I do not care.

That won't be happening in this fight.

Quite surprised... you've been campaigning for Terrestial boxing action for years and years. Now it could happen, and a live world title fight from the states your not bothered.

I'd be well happy if this was on terrestrial TV. Khan isn't the most likeable but any signs of a return for boxing to terrestrial TV is to be welcomed.

i'd be quite shocked if this wasn't on box office, although it seems as though there are offerings in the works from other parties. the fact that both khan and mitchell were both on sky of late, as well as the fact they're fighting on the same date, suggested an obvious double-header on ppv. i mean, the sold pacquaio de la hoya with an absolutely terrible undercard from the uk on box office. wasn't audley vs rogan the main event!?

anyway, i'd like it to be on itv. i don't mind their coverage and any boxing on terrestrial tv is a good thing.
