the assault on his wife weren't the first incident was it.

he should have been in custody and not able to do this.

locked up in a mental health ward would have been better than out free able to do this.

Some guys are on a road to self detruction and this guy was one of them.

the sorry thing is (apart from the obvious) that ppl seldom believe it when the woman of a high profile boxer makes headlines about being battered or abused. comment son these forums re different fighters and different incidents might back this up.

it seems as though she has to be battered to death before anyone takes notice, and then it is a bit too late.

you can say that it should never have been allowed to happen after the incident of a few weeks ago, but these things get covered up by publicists and so on, pressure is put on the victim to retract charges etc etc, to make things appear normal, to protect the image of the boxer - and the real problem is overlooked.

Given Valero’s psychological issues and also his apparent closeness to Venezuelan president Chavez, do you think there is a chance that Valero could get a minimum term on the basis of pleading insanity, or even claiming self defence? That is where I can see this going from here.
