What I mean is A.Murray is fighting these 'ticking over' fights waiting for a EBU shot. He obviously didn't get a call.
How long has that date been booked is what I'm saying, a promoter can't just drop a date surely?
Not quite getting ya mate, I'm a bit slow today? You talking about Andy Murray? He has been part of that 15/05 card for a few weeks but isn't headlining it, Andy Lee is. If he was offered the EBU shot I'm sure Peters would have no problem pulling him off the card in Limerick.

Well I will have to disagree. I agree with CP on this one, I think Andy Murray's style could trouble John Murray. He has a excellent chin aswell so I don't think J.Murray could KO him.

A Murray doesn't look as flash as McAllister Mrboxing- the McAllister who Murray took quite some time to catch up with- but he's better fundamentally, more solid, better chin, better defence, doesn't waste energy gamboling around the ring.

put it this way if the two time world champ Mcallister takes murray 8, if J Murray did stop A Murray it would be late-ish, IMO.

hey lets get it straight i would imagine J Murray would be favourite over A Murray and no doubt for good reason, but A Murray's skillset is a good allround package.

Andy Murray via close decision, possibly a SD.

In the Buckland/Murray fight i think Murray will stop him around the 8th. I actually like John Murray as a fighter and he does deserve his EBU shot but it should be agaisnt someone more deserving of the chance. Best of luck to him I say. Lee-Barker/Murray-Murray EBU double header coming up :OhYes:

i disagree, A murray's chin seems to be too high, also i believe j murray is a better fighter then against mcallister, j murray to dominate from the off and stop him around the 5th or 6th

oh, it'd be just great to get 2 irish fighters vs two board favourites in Barker and j Murray

the banter surrounding that fight would be totally impartial and objective, I am sure, and there wouldn't be any kind of British-Irish animus surrounding it at all......

you may have a point there mate but I still favour A Murray over all the various sloppinesses Mcallister commits in the ring.

I love this A Murray/ J Murray stuff

come on, murray should have the title already. if no one else can or will fight him, what can he, and his team, and promoter do? to think, he had a fight with mezaache, for the title, on showtime. some of these guys just aren't willing enough.

the last joke of a matchup for the EBU title was one of the british fights of the year (barker v belgecham), regardles of what you thought of the opponent (better than expected) or the decision (controversial, at least for me).
Andy Murray has expressed his desire to fight for the title and I'm sure if he was offered the opportunity he wouldn't turn it down. Fair enough the Barker - Belghecam fight was a good one but the fact of the matter is, Belghecam shouldn't have had the opportunity to fight for the belt. Is Hennessy Murray's promoter by any chance, nearly sure is?
i coach willie limond and his credentials are as good as anyones we never got asked WHY? team murry have avoided limond for the best part of 3 years now, whats the point in having rankings when boxers below you getting a shot ahead of you.

andy murray and willie limond are both quality, sharp if light punching punching boxers. BUT,

limond seems to have disappeared since leaving warren and turning to promoting.

i bet andy murray waits for john murray to vacate, though i'd love to see a fight between the 2 murrays.

buckland isn't bad and surely this will get murray televised on a hatton card? what UK TV coverage/TV money would murray v limond or murray v murray get?

when limond and andy murray fight lesser opponents, does that mean they're ducking better fighters? why don't they fight each other in a box off for john murray? i realise it must be frustrating for both boxers, but sucha fight would raise interest in both and make the winner more interesting.

I thought i read Limmond turned down a big chance lately as he had a big job on at work or something ?

Did i imagine that ?

Regardless of who should be getting shots etc, I think Murray - Buckland will be a great fight.

Gary is an excellent boxer and I think there's a lot of people on here guilty of underestimating him.

with the fullest of respect to gary, willie has only been beat by 2 world champions, has been a commonwealth champ and EU champ not to mention the long count amir khan got and been in the top 5 in UK for 3 years without a title shot, surely he should have been offered the shot before gary? more deserving imo. best of luck to both gary and john

his last 5 fights have been against crap opposition...watson is average, scriven is a journeyman, ramagoadi is average, same with barrett and cottier is a journeyman, how does he deserve a shot?

it's a positive thing, that murray has got his european ttile shot. some fighters lose their best years waiting to get a shot at this belt. the title should have ben his already by now, in lieu of his stoppages of top 10 EBU contenders thaxton, meager and lawton.

getting the EBU title shot means getting some momentum, everything the fighter needs.

re barker. he did want to challenge macklin, but macklin had vacated and moved up by then. and i bet barker wouldn't say no to defendin against andy lee...
No need to be so aggresive, dude. I know that Barker and Murray want better fights, I was just saying that they weren't getting them, which I believe is correct. If these two were with other promotors then that's better and things would be different. But I was just stating the bleeding obvious.

Murray and, especially Barker are two of my favourite fights, but they're promoted horrificly.
fair enough. but when you think about guys who are being promoted better, like cleverly, getting loads of credit for beating someone who was not particularly good, brancalion...
There's the epitome of the benefit of fighting regularly - fighting bums is better than fighting no one.

But only just, mind.

he's beaten some decent english/celtic level fighters, like martin watson, craig docherty and henry castle. it's an adequate fight.

i can see why ppl are moaning, but this is all about keeping john murray active and motivated. with an aggressive opponent and the european title, this is pretty good.

when you think about how long other fighters like jamie moore have had to wait for the EBU title shot, and the perhaps adverse effect it's had on their careers, then it's a positive that john murray's career is moving on up.

Murray v Buckland should be a good fight. John will be heavy favourite, but Buckland is resilient and boxes/fights well off the back foot.

I'd say Buckland is more deserving of an EBU shot, than say, Scott Lawton. At least he's a full lightweight and won some decent bouts. The British title is more fitting for this fight, but it's not completely preposterous having Buckland compete for the EBU title.

Again Hatton's connection to the EBU looks to be the key factor here.

deno, i don't think beating Fagan is enough to make Andy Murray a mandatory

as it happens, stylewise, i think he gives John Murray a very interesting fight :TU:
Well he is the third ranked fighter in the European rankings CP:

-Lee McAllister is the main challenger but is injured
-Kudriatsev is the mandatory challenger but won't travel again
-Kevin Mitchell is NO.1 ranked fighter but can be excluded for obvious reasons
-Mezaache is NO.2 but dropped the EBU belt to chase a World Title of some sorts
-Andy Murray is next in line at NO.3

WHERES YOUR MENTION OF GAVIN REES NOW HE BACK DOWN TO LIGHTWEIGHT??????
