*I'll include Tyson as an HOFER as he will surely be inducted as soon as he becomes eligble.
Tyson was voted this weekend into the WBHOF.

Thank you. Baseball, football, and basketball are content with one Hall Of Fame. Boxing has to have two.

With all these governing bodies things get confusing. PBF's victory over Sugar Shane wasn't even for the championship because PBF wouldn't pay the sanctioning fee.

P.S. I hope your stress test goes or went well.
I acknowledge Mayweather as the champion, though. It's the right thing to do. Fvck the bodies. The current WW champion of the world is Mayweather.

Larry never felt he got his due and then when he was deprived unfairly, at least in his mind, of his 49th victory at the hands of a puffed up light heavyweight, he became apoplectic with rage; a rage that exists to this day. He can't strike out at Ali , although he does obliquely, because of Ali's condition and his place in history. So Big George is the target of his ire.

I wonder how history would have turned out if he beat Spinks. If he won a gimme fight after and retired 50-0 it would be interesting to see how that would have affected his legacy and Rocky's. With all due respect would the aura of Rocky loom as large if he was 49-1 or 48-2.
Interesting to ponder.

As a postscript Larry escaped with some painfully close decisions and he showed no inclination to retire so it's not unfathomable he would not have remain undefeated.
Again very solid post along with the one with the guy who pointed out Larry was a good husband and father and looked after his money.

No doubt in his title reign writers used Ali's name to bait him and goad him.
There did seem to be an explosion of inner turmoil and rage in holmes after he lost his unbeaten record and chance to surpass marciano in his 49th bout!!!!

But hell he should have knocked that spinks out.

It was a close fight and it went against him and he was livid with rage so he lashed out at Marciano's record in front of his family. He swore on live TV back when that was a shocking offence. He took to knocking Ali all the time.

Than he told us Tyson was a "sob and that even if he beat Larry he would wind up destroying his self" .

But the real thing that gets to him is Georges success. He saw George do great in his comeback so he came back to equal it. He was so close against Mccall.

Than the other thing that burns him is George's riches from the grill.

Larry should sit back and be at peace with his ring achievements. In this internet age, many people think Holmes beat Spinks twice and would also have beaten ali and foreman.

He should be content with that and stop putting his foot in his mouth
