I've been following boxing since the 80s, my greatest fighter is Marvin Hagler. Watching his fights got me hooked

2 Manny Pacquiao
3 Joe Calzaghe
4 Floyd mayweather
5 Roy Jones Jnr

Shame Calzaghe didn't fight Jones and Hopkins in their primes BUT I do believe the outcomes would be the same AND Joe was no spring chicken either!

Three greats I always loved to watch were Ruben Oliviares, Roberto Duran and Joe Frazier. Whether they were the "greatest" . . . who is to say. But, boy, I loved to watch them fight.

winning world titles today just isn't the same as winning world titles, say, 15-20 years and beyond! yes, pacquiao won five world abc titles but when has the ring magazine "title" ever counted? they are just an opinion based magazine who have never sanctioned a world title fight so how can anybody count them as legit? they may have the better ratings but are they truly a legit governing body? about half of the boxing experts say pacquiao has only won five world titles and not seven. regardless, titles don't mean much anymore like back in the day.

i believe a world champion who stays in one weight class and dominates and clears out his division is much more impressive. especially if that division is a very good one. fighters who jump weight classes and win a title and then vacate that title to win another one isn't that impressive because some of boxing's divisions are so diluted with talent because there are too many weight divisions.

My favorites of my era would be Monzon, Hagler, Duran, Wilfredo Gomez. Talent and accomplishments, I'd add Ali, Whitaker, Manny P, J.C. Chavez, Leonard and Roy Jones

Just adding to my own post - Nigel Benn was one of my favourite fighters but I wouldn't put him in the league of my top 5 list - he was a gutsy, hard hitting warrior though and his fight with McClellen was something else! I was jumping around the room when he won! Shame McClellen was so badly hurt but I believe he's made a lot of progress since

I seen Louis live in a ex against Willie Bean at the Hollywood Legion, only time I him fight live, Robinson, I seen his L.A. fights with Olson and Fullmer live....

I would have said Roy Jones a few years ago, but now it's definitely Pacquiao.
