I've been following boxing since the 80s, my greatest fighter is Marvin Hagler. Watching his fights got me hooked

Three greats I always loved to watch were Ruben Oliviares, Roberto Duran and Joe Frazier.MIG wrote:I'm 32 and have been following boxing since I was a kid, I'd say the greatest fighter of my era is Joe Calzaghe,
my top 5 of my era are (in no order)
1 Mike Tyson
2 Manny Pacquiao
3 Joe Calzaghe
4 Floyd mayweather
5 Roy Jones Jnr
Shame Calzaghe didn't fight Jones and Hopkins in their primes BUT I do believe the outcomes would be the same AND Joe was no spring chicken either!
Olivares & Duran get my vote as the best in their country's history.raylawpc wrote:Three greats I always loved to watch were Ruben Oliviares, Roberto Duran and Joe Frazier.MIG wrote:I'm 32 and have been following boxing since I was a kid, I'd say the greatest fighter of my era is Joe Calzaghe,

Whether they were the "greatest" . . . who is to say. But, boy, I loved to watch them fight.
pacs done it in 4 'legitimate' weight classes something never done beforejaclem2 wrote:...no fighter yet has ever held titles in seven legitimate weight divisions and it is highly unlikely any one ever will...
Just adding to my own post - Nigel Benn was one of my favourite fighters but I wouldn't put him in the league of my top 5 list - he was a gutsy, hard hitting warrior though and his fight with McClellen was something else! I was jumping around the room when he won! Shame McClellen was so badly hurt but I believe he's made a lot of progress sinceMIG wrote:I'm 32 and have been following boxing since I was a kid, I'd say the greatest fighter of my era is Joe Calzaghe,
