Some of the pro-Mitchell posts on here over the past 6 months have been as cringeworthy as some you see on the current scene.

Overrated by quite a few on here. I have always thought it has stemmed from his amateur days where you had his followers and immediate circle banging on about how he was going to be one of Britains finest ever Boxers, then Khan stole his thunder completely.

Good operator but last night clearly showed just where he stands in the grand scheme of things.

I admit, although I had a bet on Katsidis(the odds being offered by british bookies were too good to turn down!)I didn't think he would blast Mitchell out like he did.

The odds on Katsidis were very generous. Caused by the ridiculous weight of money on Mitchell from punters who let their heads rule their hearts. Mitchell is a good fighter and seems to have a good chin, but he seemed to run out of ideas a bit last night.

The odds being offered on Katsidis were too good to refuse, even though I wanted Mitchell to win.

The thing with this fight is Mitchell probably does have a good chin, he just fought the hardest punching 135 pounder at the moment. He also got confused with Katsidis game plan, he didnt expect Katsidis to be retreating on occasions. I also think his corner were a bit ordinary, they seemed nervous and had no good advice for him.

Mitchell is just far too weak/small at LW, Katsidis was too big/strong for him and walked him down. Mitchell needs to try and make 130lbs

Tibbs and son,along with Dean Powell,are not an ordinary corner,mate.Nor will they have been too nervous.They are one of the best corner teams in the game and one of the most experienced and have been in much bigger fights.The truth is,even if Roach,Futch and Dundee were in the corner,it wouldnt have helped Mitchell last night.

Agreed. First time Katsidis hit him, he was in trouble.

I like Katsidis, down to earth Queenslander who loves a scrap. Mitchell comes across quite badly in his interviews. Takes himself very seriously indeed.

Sometimes we sound like the Germans & Eastern Euros on the Current Scene (if you've ever been there, you will know how embarrassing that is).

I think that is it in a nutshell... Mitchell didnt have the relative power to impose his gameplan on Katsidis... he couldnt acheive what he did against Prescott

'Tis true my friend, but I don't think it's just that, there were a plethora of problems for the lad. He didn't have the defensive smarts to keep tucked up inside out of Katsidis' way --like Victor Escobedo, who people on here were saying was crap, managed to for twelve rounds-- the speed to get around him & counter (like a 36 year old Casamayor did) or the experience to know what to do when hurt against someone who wasn't just going to whale away from three feet away (which is basically what Prescott did).

I'm glad he fought against someone real though, it can only help him in the future & I give him props for stepping up to fight.

I was at the ground last night, and it was a really good, strong, powerful atmosphere. Having seen Mitchell fight in person before, I feel the whole occasion got to him a bit.

He also took Katsidis a bit too lightly for my liking. Katsidis suckered him in and Mitchell didn't have the game to handle it.

Mitchell needs to do a lot of ground work before getting in with somebody of Katsidis' class again.

They might not be an ordinary corner mate, But they weren't very constructive when giving him advice, they sounded nervous.

just with you saying Mitchell and his corner looked short of a plan, makes me make a comparison with Khan. Looking at Khan lately his concentration seems very good. It can't be easy but he manages to look focused on every detail of his opponent for 180 seconds of every round. Couple that to his reflexes, reach and speed and it makes him hard to beat.

re the crowd last night. I watched on TV in a pub, hardly any sound, and have followed some build up this week. I was getting nervous for him earlier in the week. Takes a hell of a lot of confidence to fight your best ever opponent on your doorstep in front of 25,000 people - a hell of a lot of confidence. I'm not saying he froze or anything, but for me I would have liked to have seen him get in, get out, and get on his bike!!! Khan's a master at it - instead of backing on to the ropes and trying to stand still and duck punches = virtually impossible!
