Larry already has a loss so the worry of keeping an unbeaten record is gone. Larry's not young, so I think he might as well get stuck in. Whether it's Lee Swaby, Paul Butlin or Carl Baker, I don't think it matters so much.

hes only 31 (i think) , its not exactly old for a heavyweight , i think audley turned pro around that age

My apologies Larry. I thought I remembered reading he was a few years older than that. Obviously not. Well, I think he should go for someone who doesn't pose too much of a problem offensively, but is solid defensively. Someone who is really hard to knock out. Someone like Peret.

agreed , but i think hes already said going after a re-match with peret isnt on his radar , as hes already passed that level , or something along those lines .
but yes , a peret type fighter is where he should go next imo

sorry if you think im being hard on the big man, but im trying to be honest.

as for the others, much as dallas threw a decent shot to beat swaby i still think, with that upright style, that he will get his head ripped off by a sharp puncher/hooker.

as for price...bloody clueless. should have worked perets body from the first second of the fight, he should have kept peret at bay and out of danger with that long reach. peret should not get cloce, he just rushes in...

marks out of 10..

big larry 5

tom dallas 6

david price 4
If Price boxed the way Larry did, everyone on here would "mark him" 1/10
Yet you give Larry a 5 and Price a 4 after totally out boxing someone easily who BEAT Larry :-?

Price couldn't really win tonight, if he had a knock-over then he would have been slated. Instead he gets a tough, durable spoiler/brawler and got some needed rounds in. I don't think Price tried to stop the kid, he was happy with the rounds.

So in short I disagree with your "marking" - you're way off the mark in my opinion.

PS. I am really happy for Larry, he's picked up his first title and hopefully he adapts to the pro game and relaxes. He will get people talking and has already attracted a lot of attention on Sky. Everyone loves the heavyweights, well done Larry.

the marks are based on what each of the 3 brings to the table alongside the expectation, price would beat larry in my opinion, but he would be on the back foot and scared for 2 rounds doing it, then larry might gas a bit.

price is a former 3 times ABA champ, former international representative at the highest amateur level, 6ft 7 or whatever, decent physique......so......... he should be stopping the likes of peret if he is going to get anywhere.
i dont think im being unreasonable in saying so either, for such a huge man price does not use his attributes to maximum effect, what the eff was he doing cuddling peret so peret could land his cheap shots inside? price should have been wacking in the body shots for 3 rounds, about 20 per round and then keeping the fight long range, till perets arms dropped, then price could have stopped him to the head. i really wonder who advises these guys, a 5 year old could have looked at peret and said to 'work the body' ......

my markin gfor price is absolutely spot on my friend !!! ... :TU:

if he pleases me next time then i will up his grade, but as for now, ive red penned his work, big time !!!

Congratulations Larry. Loved the uppercuts. Kenna gave it a go and landed a big shot of his own which Larry took in his stride.

Larry did the job and did it well. Congrats. Difficult to say where Larry should go next. He`s the first to admit that technically he still has a way to go, but his sheer size and strength will cause problems for anyone.

With his fitness fully up to speed, he should go for an opponent who will spoil and tie him up and take him the distance. Learning to break a guy down will do wonders for him. That said, you can`t knock what he did last night, he done great. Comes across as a sound bloke too.

Dalls threw a great right hand, he looks sharp. With his pysique and height he could be well in the mix in a few years.

Price, again I have mixed feelings about his. He can obviously dig, but I see the guy folding when someone puts a few together on him. He will struggle with a hooker (no pun intended) who puts it on him with speed. Too robotic looking in my opinion, no natural movement. I hope I`m wrong, but I can see him getting poleaxed with an overhand right or a hook as soon as he steps up to a decent level.

But he got the win, so well done Larry! I agree with the people who have said he's too bulky, though. He's lacking flexibility because of it. Fortunately he's speedy even with the extra muscle mass.
heh, talk about unfair, the guy gets criticised for his build...?

Rix, i think Larry's physique is pretty much a given and not something he can do much about t b h.......

well done anyway Larry :TU:

Larry's very big, strong and committed but he's going to struggle when someone with a bit of technique starts timing those rushes and hitting him back. He was wide open and very limited last night to be honest. Price and Dallas would beat him.

to be fair im sure he knows his level and that he wouldnt be thinking about price and dallas , definately not at this point in his career , im sure larry knows he will have done extremely well if he was to ever win a british title , wheras im sure dallas and price will feel they can possibly go further than that.

He's come into it relatively late, is enjoying himself and giving it a go.

He's no Ali, but match him right and he could give us some right old hum dingers, given his big punch and weaknesses.

Entertainment pays the bills, not just skills.

With regards Price, i thought he got some good rounds in and his opponent was spot on. It's a shame he couldn't have fought him 9 times on the spin instead of some of the other dross he's had so far.

Price did well against a very tough guy who just soaks it up and rounds will have done him good. Despite his size, there's an air of vulnerability about Price. Don't think he punches particularly hard either but early days in his pro career and he looked the most skilful. Dallas blew Swaby away, good win on paper in just his 10th fight and he's headed in the right direction.

thanks guys for the constructive criticism. I did feel that i rushed a bit but was told by james and freddie to rush this guy and back him up and not to let him into the fight. I was also told by many who know kenna well that he will fold as soon as i hit him hard. This is why i boxed the way i did. And because this was for the title and I really need this title to try and get some sponsorship, i wanted to end it as soon as. Also I was mindful of the fact that kenna was still dangerous knocking coleman barrett down in their fight. I know I was lacking technically in the fight but trust me the work I was doing in the states with freddie was very technical and he even said that my technique was very good. Hopefully I will be able to show this in my next fight. Thanks again to everyone for their support.

Nice win Larry and good interview afterwards. Was that the hardest shot you have taken so far when Kenna caught you flush?

thanks larry, not many of us are in a position to advise you on par with the professional guidance you get in the gyms etc. but hey..we all know a bit and have seen a lot over the years, there might be the odd bit of decent talk amongst our ill informed ramblings.

keep working hard larry, next opponent needs to put a bit of fear into you so you dont rush in, someone who you need to break down with the jab and let your punches flow naturally, everything would work off the jab and the KO's will come. id like to see you work on speed a bit, the power is obviously there.

and can you 'big up' boxrec during your next post fight interview....please !!

All would be understandable Rhino, if Pricey was looking for the KO.

Pricey really wants the rounds in, which you could see last night. There were times when Peret was knocked back after taking a big shot, with his arms dropping - If Price wanted, he could have easily took a couple of steps forward and forced the stoppage, but he didn't, he let Peret get his head together.

Price hasn't been the most active HW, so what good would it do him if he's knocking his opponents out in the first or second (which has actually happened without him actually going for it)?

i didn't feel the shot kenna gave me and it didn't stop me in my tracks as someone said. I mean u didn't see me wobble or change my expression. i think dave ingleby has hit me harder but people dont realise how good a chin i have. saying that i don't want to be taking o many shots so will make sure my defence is tighter in the next fight. i would like my next fight to be against someone i have to really be careful of like i was with scott belshaw, although i was very vary of kenna, i mean he knocked out wayne llewellyn

Congratulations Larry! Can't really argue with a first round ko can you? I mean you can be as untidy as you like if you win them all like that! :D

My take is that sure, Larry could use some technical refinement but at the same time he shouldn't change his style too much. He should play to his natural strengths which are power and being very physically strong.

Well done Larry, was knackered last night but wouldnt turn off the TV till I watched your fight!
You come across very well in your post fight interviews which I'm sure the Sky boys like.
You cant beat watching an exciting heavyweight.

If you can ever get a chance to fight on a Brian Peters bill we would love to see the War Machine in Ireland!!
