Why wouldn't the Boxing authority of NSW allow Darchinyan to fight with broken hand, they allowed Dommie Vea to fight with broken nose a few weeks ago??

So what's the difference

Nothing would surprise me, it appears there's one rule for one and one for another, just depends on who the Matchmaker and Promoter is???

As it says on the Boxrec fight report, he wouldn't have passed the pre-fight medical if he actually had a broken hand, right?
Wrong. Vic fought with the broken hand because he did not want to let people down.

As much as you can in a one round fight....
He looked really good. Hard hitter and as tough as nails.

Height is going to be a problem for him.

So in Australia you can get medical clearance to fight with broken hand?
Jeff Fenech won the WBC Featherweight title with a broken hand. Great Australian welterweight of the 30s Jack Carroll had chalky bones. He broke a hand in a lot of his fights.

Thanks for the info on Mostyn's fight guys.

I was a tad bit annoyed that I missed the card last night, had wanted to check it out, but oh well.

If one goes into a fight with a broken hand, one doesn't make a song & dance out of it 2 days before the fight.
Such publicity makes ringside doctor(s) look irresponsible/negligent.

If I was the doctor doing pre fight medical, I'd say to him I believe his story & therefore would he provide me with x-ray & report so I could asses whether it was still safe for him to fight.

Now I would insist he publicly retract the bullshit, or legal action would follow.

I thoght that Ben rabah however was matchedagainst someone who could havebeen seriously injured . Complete mismatch. Iknow it is a nitro format butthe matcmaker must have had his heart in his mouth. I don't like seeing a guy get hit like that.

I thought it was 1 of the most boring fight nights in a while! I've only ever fell a sleep a couple of times since watching boxing, and this was 1 of them.

Mismatch after mismatch. However i thought and this just maybe because i was bored but Rabah v Olarte was the fight of the night( I Haven't seen Darchinyan's fight yet). Rabah took some very decent shots straight down the middle from Olarte and Rey proved that his chin is rock solid.

Tomlinson is certainly not ready for world honors yet, he ate a fair bit of leather in the first 2 rounds, a big puncher with big fight expierence would have had him out. But no doubt he will be matched for a IBO strap soon( Vacant of course).
Still he's a good fighter and will have a big career.

Cograts to Fox for getting Vic on TV, and thanks Vic for allowing a broader audience locally to see your talent.

Nitro nights suck....please no more!

There's one small but incredibly important fact that everyone has overlooked here. With this win Vic has become the first fighter in the entire history of boxing to win titles in 3 weight divisions in the prestigious IBO :TU:

VIC Darchinyan was screaming when, finally, they removed his hand wraps. Screaming. "Yes, bad. Very, very bad," the new IBO world bantamweight champion said yesterday, his swollen left hand submerged in a bucket of ice.

"Every time my fist got touched when those wraps were coming off it was painful ... had me screaming."

Darchinyan is today being hailed among Australia's toughest athletes after fighting gutsy Filipino Eric Barcelona for 12 rounds with a broken left hand at Parramatta Leagues Club on Thursday night.

The Daily Telegraph has obtained a copy of the X-ray, which clearly shows the busted bone that was suffered a fortnight ago while sparring Aussie welterweight Lovemore Ndou.

So bad was the break, Darchinyan was only able to throw his trademark left three or four times a round, spending the rest of his time moving, boxing and generally waiting out the pain so he
"After every big punch, a minute rest," the man dubbed Raging Bull confirmed. "Because you have to wait. The hand is damaged. Broken.

"It's hard because when you throw the left you know there will be pain.

"But still you keep punching, punching, punching."

Darchinyan's incredible feat now sees his name etched alongside fellow Aussie boxing legend Jeff Fenech, who also famously fought with a broken bone in his fist. "I kept my hand in ice for an hour after the fight, until it was frozen," the Aussie southpaw continued.

"Still last night I couldn't sleep because of the pain. But what do you do? I had people here from Armenia, America, Europe ... there was no way I could call the fight off."

Darchinyan's trainer Angelo Hyder said anyone who doubted the distress his charge was under should grab a replay of the fight from Fox Sports. "Watch the tapes and you'll see Vic was only throwing three lefts a round," Hyder shrugs. "That left is his weapon, an absolute bomb, yet watch a replay and you'll see he throws one then drops the hand down by his waist. He shakes it, moves on his feet and boxes for up to a minute.

"He just couldn't jump on the bloke. Because that big left uppercut he needed, it was just hurting him too much to even throw the bloody thing.

"In the 11th round he hit Barcelona in the head but couldn't finish it. I wanted a knockout, Vic wanted a knockout, everyone wanted a knockout ... his hand just wouldn't let him."

Yet despite the courage shown by his fighter, Hyder conceded he was still disappointed with the way Darchinyan went about winning the fight. He was overheard afterwards deadpanning "worst fight of your career, Vic" and he refused to back away from the statement yesterday. "Because Vic got hit far more than he should have," Hyder said. "And this is a sport where getting hit ends careers.

"Just ask Roy Jones Jr."

Finally watched the fight and it was a cracker, only because Vic had a Broken hand, that is a fact.

What about Hyder, "this was your worst fight ever Vic" in front of the camera's.

End of Round 7, Hyder says to Vic " Its 4 rounds each.....what's wrong with you...ahhh don't give me any excuses about your hand" What a hard ass trainer.

I thought that was the best cornering I've heard from Hyder.

Vic your all heart.
