Howard is a promoters dream, take fights on short notice and never backs down from anyone, I was at the M.E.N. with him when he boxed Richard Towers and got hit with some huge shots and kep coming forward and trying, he has nearly fought all the Heavyweight division!! You have done yourself proud pal and its probably hard for you to walk away at the moment but think about all you have achieved and things in the last few years pal!!!

Thanks everybody, my weight is coming down gradually been waking up at 15st12 last few days, got as heavy as 17st9 after my last fight. Been working loads on my head movement and footwork. Doing an exhibition on Sunday with an ex-license holder (someone I fought in the pro's) so hopefully will put into practice all the good defensive work I have been doing in the gym. I'll let you know how it goes, still aiming to re-apply for my license towards the end of the year at cruiser

I saw Zahid Kahut at Prizefighter live and at the time I thought he was the worst pro boxer I ever saw. And you lost to him twice. We all have our skills, and strenths and weaknesses. Yours is clearly not boxing - why are you willing to risk your brain doing something with so little gain???
Some people have said I'm stubborn, I would say I have a passion for the sport. I know I have been limited but I'm trying to change that.
good reply mate, there are many of us on here that are now 40+ and wish we had followed our dream and been a boxing professional. i managed 12 fights as a schoolboy, i just wish i had done it as an adult and even had a go at the pro game. i dont care if i had had 6 straight defeats as a pro..... i would still have loved to have given it a go. (not that i would have had 6 defeats, i would have at least KO'd spud !! ...

)
hold your head up mate, you are living/have lived the dream. enjoy it while you can.
With most other sports I would agree.... but boxing is dangerous and causes brain damage. This is not a risk worth taking for anyonje who's gonna make little money.............

Well its not always about money Reggaereggae and even if it was who are you to say how much money I could make and how much I want. I know the dangers involved in boxing and thats why I'm working on a more elusive and defensive style before I reapply for my licence. I appreciate your concern but I'll do it my way thanks and you can say I told you so if goes tits up.

Good Luck Howard - Thinks it's really sensible the way your going about things.
Look forward to seeing you back as a cruser later on in the year.

Huge credit to Howard Daley - fought a tough man for his debut and it just got harder, sharing a ring with ABA champions, prospects, world amateur champions. Would Chelsea have won a league title if they had to play all their games away from home? Howard has gone from having a background in unlicensed boxing with no amateur experience to being a heavyweight pro who got rarely stopped as he shared the ring with some really good fighters on away turf.
In my opinion - it would have been better if Howard could have carved out a career somewhere like the US midwest where he could have fought and beat men of similar experience and got a good winning record and got experience to take on the big boys, but with a wife and a family and a job in the police here then that was never going to happen but he didn't shirk on his dream in a tougher arena - the British pro rings where if you have to work and train it is hard not to escape 'journeyman' status.
If he never fights again, he has done plenty in my opinion but one big shot at cruiserweight - I will be watching with interest!
