Lots and lots needs to change if Fury is to go beyond where he is now.

Gavin Rees went from a 6-8rnd boxer fighting the likes of Daniel Thorpe and Billy Smith .. to fighting and winning the WBA belt in his next fight ... If Fury (or almost any other guy) has a manager/promoter with the right connections working for you ... the sky is the limit .. almost

He got his first proper test in McDermott, who is a reasonable domestic level fighter but would be an underdog against most of the top British heavies, and LOST. The record shows different, but anybody who saw that fight knows the truth. (I can only assume the people posting on here that he won have surnames like Gorman or Maquire.) He then avoided the rematch, and any other domestic heavy of any note, like the plague.

Feed him to Chisora or Harrison.

Brian Hughes is perhaps the first truly experienced trainer he has had for a long period of time.

Hughes and Pat Barrett have taken Fury over to the German gym, that has nothing but cruiserweights and heavyweights in it. They stopped in a hotel around the corner from the gym and each morning all the fighters and their coaches would eat breakfast together.

Fury boxed the ears off the likes of Gbenga and went toe to toe with the Nordic Nightmare aka Robert Helenius (who knocked out Gammer and Lamont Brewster).

I know that the Eastern bloc domination of the heavier divisions such as cruiser and heavy will long continue, such was the amount of talent in that gym. Fury was not just holding his own with all of them, but dishing out a few hidings. He cant get that sort of abundance of sparring in the UK as the best are all enemies of each other.

If Hughes can work on Fury's youthful exuberance and get that under control, then his true ability will come through.

I believe after Fury's last outing, they had him do 75 press ups in the changing rooms for blasting him out early, instead of going through the motions.

Personally I think Tyson's entourage are a bit over boisterous and need to be kept away from him from arrival at the arena until after the fight. It's easy to forget how young the lad is and that your mates and brothers around you can put you in the wrong mindset.

Hughes will have the right plan for McDermott i think. It will be down to Fury to stick to it though and that's the key to success.

How far can he go? if he continues to get better and better who knows.. if he plateaus at his current level then possibly domestic level or European. It is in his hands.

I have to strongly disagree with your description of him. We have far better HW prospects.

Tyson Fury's is being too easily dismissed on this forum. He's a young prospect with excellent natural gifts and is now working under the wing of a outstanding trainer in Brian Hughes. The fact that Fury won Bronze at the Worlds as a junior holds credibility too.

Although I dont foresee a World Title in future I'm confident Tyson will reach European level and the Top 20 World Rankings - including those on Boxrec. By the way, its interesting people rate Tom Dallas on here but forget David Price. Price is far stronger among some excellent British prospects ...

I don't know how you can even say that. My opinions are based on facts that I've seen with my eyes. John Mcdermott is nothing special. Skelton KO'd him in 1 round and Skelton is pretty poor too.

You could argue that Audley is "European level" but I don't think he is. He only just managed to beat Sprott and I was confidant that Sosnowski would have beat him.

To say Fury will make a top 20 fighter or European level (some people think world lmfao). Just based of his first fight with John Mcdermott, this is a ridiculous statement based on facts. A guy his size and he was comfortably out boxed and beaten.

If Tyson Fury does beat John Mcdermott and in good fashion. Then I'll understand the people who have the same opinion of you are coming from. Until he can beat a domestic heavyweight (or even two of them). Then I can't see how anyone could think he'll reach any kind of level.

If he beats John Mcdermott, which I don't think he will and then he beats Chisora as it's a final eliminator. Then I'll gladly vote for European level.

Price has more raw talent IMO...

Fury may turn out to be another Audley........all hype, big mouth, lacks drive and focus. He should be motoring towards a Euro title shot already given the coverage and momentum he seemed to be getting 18 months ago.

Now we have injuries and excuses....

I guess we'll see. I think he's British title level but will fight for the Euro and make hard work of it....

what's the score with Price, why isn't he being propelled further, he too seems to have fallen away and yes, he is far superior to Fury and a potential prospect.

I think He gets a hard time on here, He is a baby in terms of experiance. He is a big lad with good motorized skills, plus what appears to be a good chin. Ive met Him and found a very polite Kid, plus a listener. Be interesting what happens now He is with Brian,think He will do well longterm.

Going with Brian was a good move, I hope it lasts....

The problem is he ran before he could walk outside of the ring......he put himself up there to be knocked down. Being humble goes a long way with boxing fans, ask Jamie Moore, Mick Jennings etc.

Unless you're a Naz, Ali or Leonard and you can really back up your boast, in my opinion you should get your head down, work hard and move yourself into a good position before telling everyone you're the next big thing.

At least Aud had his medal as leverage......

How old was Audley when He got the Gold.

I think he'll knock around long enough to pick up the British title, European is really pushing it - World title - NEVER.
I think McDermott will beat him on points winning most rounds and Fury will disappear for a while
