I am not suprised, another hand picked opponent, 6 rounds, and it will be all over, hope nobody is paying for this pathetic card :shame:

Yep! Easy 3,000,000 Rupiah out of bums on seats + 1,500,000 out of ppv :D
Just on this note...does anyone know the range in which these South American fighters get paid when they come out here?

Is part of the attraction for Mundine that maybe he can get them cheap?

I mean the South American can get a free holiday to Oz, Mundine gets to look good, pay his opponent pennies and rake the money in through his promotional company...

... i dont know, just something that came to mind reading this thread...

so maybe the "fee" is not money, that is further savings as smart promoters :OhYes: ...perhaps casino chips or some form of barter?

Opponent is to be expected, When he has grubs promoting him what else could you expect.

Mundine has more natural boxing talent than anyone else out of Australia in years yet lets other people steer his career down the crapper.
What really shits me is they talked about getting a fight with Pavlik, Mundine could have beaten Kelly as easily as Martinez did in my opinion, He could be the Middleweight World champ but instead is fighting an easy Victim that is not on his level.

Whilst I agree with your assessment of the man's (or should that be The Man's? No? Okay) talent, Ben, I really don't think Mundine has the nuts to hold it all together like Martinez did when Pavlik came back at him down the stretch. I think he'd go all negative & basically, brick it, refusing to engage after & being run out of the ring for a "what could have been" -type decision loss. Martinez -- for all his flash -- is one genuinely hard dude under the goofy smile & the weird stance. When Pavlik looked like he was going to get back in that fight after the eighth round, Martinez bit down on his gumshield & went & kicked the shite out of him for the remainder of the fight.

I think Mundine has got all the tools to do a job like that on a guy like Pavlik, but not the intestinal fortitude, if you like.

Isn't Mundine his own promoter?

Some will probably drop out. Mundine's opponent will be announced @ Monday's press conference.
Which Monday are we talking about?

Yesterday
Maybe it was called off, due to insufficient media interest?

hmmm... that actually makes it somewhat interesting. Williams has more runs on the board but has lost a few recently and perhaps Alex is getting him at the right time...

How does an Englishman get to fight for an Oriental title?

East Anglia is not in Asia.

Well theres at least 1 interesting fight if it comes off.

At this point I will be buying the Geale card, as the missus has cut me back to 1 card a month.
I would much rather give my money to a guy who appears to be genuinely trying to succeed, who's genuinely(Well at least i think) trying to get the big fights.

Notice that the reference of the "Claytons Oriental" title Alex and the Brixton Bomber were competing for has now disappeared.

The only way you can work out the title's name was if you were standing in downtown Brixton, Brisbane would be a place orientated way over the the horizon, where the sun rises: the east.

WBO declined to sanction it.
I suggested vacant WBF World

No i think Mundine proved in the fight with Kessler he had what it takes to compete with the best guys. Even though he lost he was doing well right through the fight when he really put in an effort.
With his speed and defence he would make Pavlik look amaturish, He would use angles and Pavlik would be dejected after 6-7 rounds and Mundine would box to a UD. Thats just my opinion mate but i doubt we will see it happen.

That was five years ago with Mundine at 12 stone. I saw the fight and thought Kessler won it easily.

After one of the shortest fights for sometime, Garth Wood's eye scar tissue only lasted 15 seconds and the bout against William Hadlow was called off.

Garth must now be highly doubtful about appearing on the Mundine card as that cut will not heal in time. If he does front up, without letting the eye completely heal, it will be a bloodbath!

Actually fighting on with that paper thin scar tissue could even hinder Garth getting into the ring with the invisible man, supposedly penned in for December '10. Another quick and bad cut like that will send Garth into retirement. Remember he was the big bleeder on The Contender!

He could have been fighting for the World Middleweight Title.

Why fight for some ham and egg title?
