Well Greg Rusedki played tennis for ye, John Barnes played football for ye, Kevin Pietersen puts willow on leather for ye, Zola Budd ran track, Luol Deng shot hoops and Mike Catt played rugby - not a drop of English blood amongest them I dont think. So it doesnt look like ye are never picky to be honest.

Anyway, Macklins parents are Irish, he sent a lot of his youth in Ireland, holds an Irish passport and most of all considers himself Irish - I think people should respect that! Its hardly a big ask!

Shall we get back on topic - having a pop at Britains biggest hypejob Barker!
Did you cheer when Ireland beat Italy in the World Cup in 1994?

Take a look at where that lot were born you little tinker :)

Barker UD. Far slicker, but have would have to avoid Macklin's bombs early on...

wasnt Richie Rich over here this week trying to sort that out.

Also why does Macklin need British TV?
most of his career he's been a british fighter on british TV. he did his irish thing vs campas and pintos.

it obviously pays to be irish when fighting on RTE.

so hopefully this barker-macklin fight happens, with one beign rated for the other's title.

however, last time this was the case - for the british title - a lot of ppl blamed macklin for it not happening.

I think you will find that the video I posted was taken in the US, nothing to do with RTE.

John Barnes (football), Greg Rusedski (tennis), Kevin Pietersen (cricket), Ted Bami (boxing), Graeme Hick (cricket), Matt Stevens (rugby union), Andrew Caddick (cricket), Graeme LeSaux (football), Terry Butcher (football), Matt LeTissier (football), Matt Banahan (rugby union), Brian Stein (football), John Salako (football), Tony Dorigo (football) Luther Blissett (football), Rob Jones (football), Gordon Hodgson (football), Joe Baker (football). Steve Lambert (football) Colin Viljoen (football), Dylan Hartley (rugby union), Peter Nicol (squash), Cyrille Regis (football), Allan Lamb (cricket), Germaine Mason (athletics), Tony Greig (cricket), Zola Budd (athletics), Robin Smith (cricket), Lee Dickson (rugby union), Tim Ambrose (cricket), Pat Barnard (rugby union), Jonathan Trott (cricket), Matt Prior (cricket), Lesley Vainikolo (rugby league and union), Alexander Obolensky (rugby union), Owen Hargreaves (football), Clinton McKenzie (boxing), Takaloo (boxing), Riki Flutey (boxing), Mike Catt (rugby union), Henry Paul (rugby union), Luol Deng (basketball), Olga Butkevich (olympic wrestling) and Linford Christie (athletics) all played for ye and hardly a drop of English blood amongest most of them.

And what about "English cricketers" Ed Joyce and Eoin Morgan! And good old Lenaxe! Never threw a punch in England before he won the Olympics for Canada all of a sudden becomes Britains world champion!

Hush now hypocrites!

And what about the Furlan fight and the Rhodes one! Not forgetting the Monaghan fight, you know the one when he won the Irish title!

right, Tony Dorigo played football for England therefore Macklin is irish, brilliant logic that it's difficult.

Gentlemen, Gentleman. Let us not waste our energies with this internecine squabbling. We West Midlanders and Irish should be uniting against our common enemies in London.

He's Irish? Must be that thick Irish accent. The same one that Clinton Morrison, Jason McAteer and Andy Townsend had!

Simple minds get confused really easily so dont worry about that!

It's not up to me, I dont edit the membership roll. But if you had 100% Irish blood coursing through your veins, you were legally Irish and most importantly considered yourself primarily Irish - then I guess I could have a word with the bouncer!

Why do I come on here and read shite - Jesus Christ! :witzend:

You should know be now Leonard that the UK does not base citizenship or identity on 'jus sangre' but on 'jus soli' so you can be British (or English) and be born somewhere else and if we wanted to be pedantic, we could say that John Barnes, Lloyd Honeygan and Clinton McKenzie were born full British subjects during the time Jamaica was a British crown colony.

I prefer British citizenship and identity to be based on a mixture of 'jus soli' and 'jus sangre' I don't care if you come here with just socks in your backpack from a meat wagon travelling from Albania - if you want to be British and consider yourself British then you are British. If you have a British great grandparent and you are sick of living in America or wherever great grandaddy pissed off to then you should have rights to UK citizenship - I am not saying its right or wrong but it is just my opinion of someone belonging to an immigrant nation like ours. Better than the set up in Germany where there are thousands of Turkish born Germans who haven't got German citizenship but some Volga-German whose ancestors left for Russia 400 years ago can waltz in and get German citizenship!
