It will NEVER be a valid comparision because Ivan Calderon is a hall of famer who has had a fantastic career who's unbeaten and a 2 weight world champion. How can you even mention an overweight Heavyweight like McDermott in the same sentance as Calderon. McDermott has lost his last 4 fights and his greatest achievement is winning the English title. The two are poles apart.

That is the question though Ian. A cousin of Fury's has told me (ooh, hark at me with the inside info!), more than once, that the lad has a lot of ability, that he believes in him. He's also bemoaned the fact that he won't get into proper shape. I don't think anyone has him down as the next Lewis, but if you're going to fight, why put yourself at a disadvantage?

He's got some talent and has the right build. That is all. There are quite a few others like him. Chisora, Tom Dallas, Olebamewo. ALl these are brit level guys who with the right dedication could POTENTIALLY win british/euro titles. I don't see any of those names ever being world class or getting world belts. Price has the amateur pedigree and should go further than all of them, but he has had very little to test him yet, who knows how he might react to someone with genuine KO power tagging him in the pros.
