Ha ha! shes a sturdy yok alright.
Here it is modelled by the Pink Panther.
Come to think of it, do you qualify to fight for the Irish title Dooley? ;)
Irish descent on my father's side, not visited Kilkenny for nearly four years, not seen my Irish family for three years, don't drink Guinness, don't wear green and not currently an active pro fighter -- so they've just made me the 160lb mandatory, I fit the bill.
Only joshing, got the ranking after buying a 6 pack of Caffreys, which is effing lurvely.
I thought you qualified due to your wide and varied array of jaunt looking caps!
I'll have you know that the requirements for qualification for the Irish title are exactly the same as those for the British title and every holder has considerably more Irish blood in them than the current British fly and heavyweight title holders have British blood. ;)

The BUI are quite helpful in that they dont have a website. Makes things easy that.
Off the top of my head -
Heavyweight - Coleman Barrett
Cruiser - Ian Tims
Light Heavy - John Waldron
Super Middle - Anthony Fitzgerald
Middle - Spike O'Sullivan
Light Middle - Neil Sinclair
Welter - Stephen Haughian
Light Welter - Andy Murray (possibly vacated - I dunno)
Lightweight - Andy Murray
Super Feather - Eddie Hyland
Feather - Pajo Hyland
Super Bantam - Paulie Hyland
Dunno the rest but dont think the fly titles have never been contested.

Why do you ask Jon - are you fervently searching for some Irish roots in Max Maxwell's family?

Timsey doesn't have one does he ?, he never won it in the ring anyway, and the BUI hardly just handed it to him.
The pro Irish title isn't the best looking thing(no matter which version you look at) but the Senior amateur title really is a beautiful belt.
Still an Irish title is what I'd want most on the mantelpiece after a European or World title.

Good on him, first title of MANY!
SBW - My Grandparents are Flaherty's.... Think I could qualify? I'd have a go of that haha

Bloody hell, no disrespect to him or the title itself, but this is a getting ABSURD.
YET another title to be contested on British shores.
Commonwank, British, English, Masters, International, European, EU European, WBU, IBO, Celtic, Area...
stop me if I've missed anything.
Sure, I think the Irish title is great, as a contest and stepping stone for Irish fighters.
But heck, someone needs to draw the line somewhere.

Also, this habit of announcing the title before even annoucning the opponent! lol It's like those dire Commonwealth bouts... Such and Such will be fighting for the Commonwealth titles... against some guy drafted in at late notice.

Ah, fair enough then- I see what you mean- it's still speculation at this stage.
Was the Woodhouse bout for a title?

I don't think the title matters. I just want to see Gavin in a tough fight.
I really want to get behind Gavin, I like him, but he needs tough matchmaking, possibly moreso than any of the other olympians.

The Woodhouse bout was good matchmaking.I would like to see him in with Nigel Wright or Steve Williams after this one and then Lenny Daws,i really rate Frankie and think hes got a good hardness about to go with his undoubted skill.

So Dundalk's Michael Kelly fancies taking Frankie Gavin up on the challenge!

Don't think Kelly would have anything I'm his game to worry Frankie to be brutally honest.
"Gavin is a good pressure fighter, but not that special"
That line made me laugh. Frankie might be on the front foot more as a pro but he is not a pressure fighter - he is one of the best counter punchers this country has produced in decades, literally.
Kelly will be in for a rude awakening come fight night if he prepares for a pressure fighter - the Brummie will box his head off!
