Bruseles
I don't think that original quote was from the Bruseles fight, I think Lampley brought it up during that fight talking about it happening in another fight.
It wasn't the same fight as when he was giving predictions for the NFL games during the fight. I remember seeing it in the pre fight telecast in the Sharmba Mitchell fight. I cannot find it anywhere on youtube. It must have been one of his early HBO fights because I know for a fact it wasn't Castillo, Corley, or Mitchell. I am wondering if it was Coralles?

The one with the NFL predictions (& as funny as it was, Lampley should have been reprimanded, by rights, for asking Mayweather a question during the round) was the Bruseles bout. Not sure about the other one.

During Cotto vs Torres.

Lampley: says it only makes sense that if a fighter hits you low to go back and do the same.

Foreman: It only makes sense if you don't have a lot of dignity.

Lampley: Floyd Mayweather talks about pound for pound, right now the pound for pound list centers around Trinidad,Mosley and Roy Jones. Do you think Mayweather is on that level yet?

Foreman: Well right now theres a guy by the name of Page and until they beat him in that 147 class nobody's pound for pound.

Lampley: Ha, uhh.... Alright James Page

Lampley: Vargas' corner is holding up 5 fingers telling him to take all 5 minutes.

Foreman:(laughs) Can you imagine a woman now giving instructions.
That James Page dialogue was HOF material. Poor Jim looked utterly flummoxed :OhYes:

How about Kostya Tszyu's eternally-famous, "Please, do not be rude to me" to a wide-eyed & spooked Jim Grey

I agree. While funny, HBO should have been embarassed. Lampley showed about as much disrespect as one could show to Bruseles. The only thing he could have done worse was cheer Floyd on, which he may have done at some point as well.

Post fight interview after Briggs-Foreman

Larry Merchant: "George is the end for your boxing career?"

George Foreman: "Most likely yes. I will still continue to call fights with you and...and uh....that other young guy...what's his name?"

Larry Merchant: "Jim Lampley?"

George Foreman: "Yeah that guy"

I suppose you could say, in Lampley's defense, he had a moment of being caught up in the novelty, & did correct himself immediately thereafter. That lessens it a good bit, but he still should've known better.

When did Donald and Mercer fight?
He's talking about Holmes.

Well Donald's [Larry] nickname is "The Legend" so that was confusing. I've never heard Holmes be referred to as "Larry Legend".
Well, which one is a legend?

Mark Gastineau after being kayoed by Doc Anderson. "If I had a better girlfriend I would have won" The funny part is that he was dead serious!

Two Reg Gutteridge quotes for me.

"His eyes are in seperate orbits." on Hearns after the Barkley stoppage.

"It's like watching Bambi get mugged." on Sugar Ray Leonard getting hurt in a fight.

And two personal ones.

I was at the ABA's at Gateshead Leasure centre and there was a big buzz about Naseem Hamed at the time, he was european champ at that time I think. I'm 6' 5" and looked like a giant next to Naz. There was a queue stretched along the bar and Naz was next to me at the bar. Barman, ignores everyone that's been waiting ages and asks Naz what he wants to drink. Naz says "Serve the big man first. I can wait" I felt like a million dollars.

and before you think I'm a hard man.

I was at a gym in london (Henry Cooper's I think - I'd visited a few that day). The gym was heaving full of mostly pros (I remember James Cook was hitting pads). I walked in, with an old friend (who was a lot shorter than me, the place went silent and everyone stared at me - probably thinking "Who's the lanky white boy?". My mate and me start chatting to one of the trainers he knows. Just about to get into the ring is Henry Akinwande, who walks past me and I'm intimidated straight away for two reasons. A, He's a Heavyweight boxer (and I'm not) and B, He's taller than me (and I'm not used to that). Then the trainer says loud enough for everyone to hear, that Henry could use some sparring (on reflection I think he was kidding) and was I interested.
It wasn't the words that came out of my mouth, it was just the look of fear on my face!!!!

In the third round, while Hagler was landing on Hearns but bleeding badly from a cut, the referee momentarily stopped the action and led Hagler to the ringside physican to have the cut examined. The doctor asked, "Can you see him?" To which Hagler replied, "Well, I ain't missing him, am I?" I always loved that quote.
