any chance ryan rhodes could be in the mix agin - if martinez targets his old WBC 154 title vs angulo, that is? (WBC would have to sanction it and gary shaw would have to push his fighter angulo into the deep end.)

he could end up being a contender for martinez again, is world rated with sanctioning bodies and media, and unlike many, probably would be willing to go for it...

a shame the WBC wouldn't let martinez hold titles simultaneously at 2 weights.

So who's ahead of him in Ireland?

The reality of the situation is, he is a very talented fighter with a lot of potential and again, he's never even been put down nevermind flattened.
Im not being harsh mate. I'm calling it how I see it.

Also getting a bit tired of the old "yes but he was still throwing punches as he got stopped by the bum" like it's some sort of achievement. He got smashed up, cut up and stopped. Whether he climbed off the deck or not is irrelevant. Vera was a hand picked bum, someone known through reality TV as the perfect cannon fodder for an American intro. Let's not deny that any further.

He's back over here, because the 'reality' as you put it, is that his American pipe dream has vanished before it even began.

Yes he has ability, yes he can go somewhere...but crikey, let's hear no more comparisons to Tommy Hearns from fat face.

Lee losing to vera isnt as bad as you make it out to be. yes it set him back some
but i do believe the reasons why he lost to vera are true and thats the difference between me and you.
Lee will be back on american tele end of july or august and i personally dont believe we will see lee fail again on his way to a world title shot. I feel a lot hate for lee on this forum because of the advantages manny steward gives lee maybe? But you have to remember it was manny who wanted lee to fight for his kronk gym and pursued him during amatuer days. If Barker or macklin or any other guy who was as good or as talented as lee in the amatuers and had lees physical advantages then maybe they would of got manny stewards help but you cant hate on lee for getting these opportunitys.
If manny steward thought lee was a bum or would fail on the big stage again do you think he would still be working with him or give him another shot at the american tv audience just to embarrass him again? i dont think so....... :TU:

You are being harsh and you sound very bitter too, you'd think he was the only fighter to ever have an off night. Vera is not the complete bum you are making him out to be, Lee should have beaten him but thats not to say Vera is a pushover. Being flattened (your word) is a lot different than being stopped on your feet while still throwing back, so let's not deny that any further.

It's not his fault that he was compared to Hearns either, did you ever hear him make such a claim? Don't hold Steward's ramblings against Lee.

As for sparring with Wladdy... well its only sparring. In a real boxing match, Lee would be KO'd as soon as Wlad decides.
I was there and that's not how it went down, Lee was fine and in no danger of being stopped.

I'll say it again, Steward would not let Lee within a mile of Wladimir Klitschko is he had chin issues.

stop hijacking a martinez thread into an andy lee thread. start doing that when lee's fulfilled his potential.

seems like only one fighter of true calibre wants martinez - WBO 154 champ sergey dzinziruk. i think this is the only guy that would move up to middleweight and fight him. dzinziruk isn't the ideal style, and he may not get much more for fighting martinez than he got for fighting daniel dawson (at least according to martinez's promoter, who admittedly was trying to poo-poo the fight). is it economically viable? i feel that an angulo fight isn't worth the hassle - move down in weight AND fight for the title he just vacated, if the WBC will put it on the line...

At the moment Martinez is a level above our guys, but he isn't unbeatable.
I'd pick Macklin to give in the hardest fight out of our middles, Martinez would start a big favourite.

What can i say lee has alot fans. But in future leave him out of the topic when your starting a new thread about martinez and especially if you dont think he belongs in a ring with him, then you wont get a backlash from the irish when the haters try to character assassinate lee. :TU:
