I'd vote no. The standards SHOULD be high. I'd be more than happy to have inductions every two years than every one.

NO, and I could name 50 eligible fighters more deserving. Hatton had his chance at greatness in his bouts with Mayweather and Pacquiao, and he failed the test.

fighters with far less impressive resumes have made it in.

Jeff fenech Brian Mitchell, Barry Mcguigan, even Ken Norton off the top of my head.
I hate to be a dick, but, it's to each HIS/HER own.

Secondly, like I said earlier I don't care if mistakes have been made in the past. That doesn't mean we should continue to repeat them.

Norton is questionable for his induction. However, he beat Ali in their first fight and a lot of people [on this forum] feel he should have won their third fight. Norton also beat Quarry, Bobick, Young, and BARELY lost to a peak Holmes. I'm not sure if it's HOF worthy, but; it's impressive.

I haven't studied the 80's/90's Featherweight scene thoroughly enough to commit on Mitchell. Though I am baffled as to why McGuigan was inducted into the Hall.

Fenech doesn't have an incredible resume, however; I would say it's an impressive one.

I don't want to hear that because fighters that didn't deserve to be inducted did get inducted that Boxing should lower their standards forever.
The grammatical issues aside this is a fantastic post to add to the ones by member i disagree.

Ken Norton deserves to be in the HOF.
Fenech in his dynamic explosive prime was a thing to behold. Like seeing the second coming of Duran. His record is an impressive one and he was robbed of a 4th world title which he may well have retired undefeated after winning. He gets in, imo the man was a throwback and fought like an old timer. So did McGuigan but Fenech's record is far more impressive.

Tyszu gets in.

Hatton doesnt imo unless he comes back and does something special which he wont at this stage. Hatton is a good fighter who lost to the p4p best of his day but members i disagree and barry have said it better than i could.

J also has a point none of us should split hairs about grammar.its something i have complained of, and so has Raff.It seems to be a growing trend. Lets keep this a forum for discussing boxing however we choose to express it as long as others understand.

The world would be a duller place if we all spoke like grammer conscious drones

What I love is how you only pin-pointed one section of my post and then went on this diatribe about how this forum is subpar to your desires. The BOTP section of the BoxRec forum is a great place. So, even if you think I'm a dick, that my friend, would be inductive reasoning. No need to get your "knickers in a twist" because I thought I was making a grammatical correction (when apparently I wasn't right - go me). That part had nothing to do with trying to "make you look wrong". There's no reason to bicker over little things like that. Especially since we're all strangers that most likely will never meet each other (for the most part). I love all y'all that frequent the BOTP section, even if we disagree, we still family. Anyway, I decided I'm not going to kill myself, because it turns out my girlfriend isn't too fond of that idea. Shame, right? Anyway, I don't see why Hatton should be inducted into the Hall. Sure, he had his moments in the sun, but; not A) long enough to be Hall worthy and B) not dominant enough wins - for me - to be look at as a possible inductee.

A FAMILY HUH.... WELL THEN DOES THAT MAKE YOU THE STINKING OF PISS GRANDAD IN THE CORNER? Who rants out b.s. in his senile little world according to him? I came here to discuss boxing but you decided to try and be superior, which to your chagrin you found out that you werent..anyway best not detain you too long nurse needs to change your bag.

sorry dude if you act like a prick you will get treat like one.
j I must confess an admiration for your post it had me laughing out aloud although with respect if we are indeed a family and someone is the....... to use your amusing venacular the "stinking of piss grandad in the corner who rants out bs in his senile little world" well I can think of one or two exceptionally qualified candidates other than young barry for that role! Lmfao dont take offence guys you've both contributed to a wonderful debate!

That pretty much covers it. Hatton had a good career which got GREAT media coverage.

Does he deserve to be in the HOF? no, not by any means. He was incredibly overrated. But more than likely he will make it in. Just like Gatti and Corrales he was an entertaining fighter but far from great.

Barry, you ARE being a dick!

Each to their own is how we use the phrase in England, the HIS/HER variant is American. Don't correct an Englishman on his English!

I'm American and I've never heard Barry's version in my 41 years. To each their own is the statement as I know it.

who gives a sh!t!!!! we are on a BOXING FORUM!!! this is not Language Arts!!! as long as we can understand what the other meant then that's all that fu*^king matters! and England is gay! u mumbling mother fu*^kers wanna teach us how to speak? HA!

Will he make it in? Absolutely.

Does he deserve to? No.

Popular? Yep I agree with that.

Exciting to watch? I've found him exciting at times but too much of a grappler for my liking, especially when he got to world championship class.

All that said though, I remember watching him years ago before he was even British champion and saying he'd struggle to become european champion never mind world, so fair play to him for proving me wrong. But no I don't think he deserves to go in the HOF just the same as a lot of other fighters don't.

he gets in without a doubt. lost to two elite HOFers. fighters with less merit got in the hall based on popularity and heart. ricky gets in for his popularity and a pretty good resume.
