what im trying to say is a submission is a kop out, it would be like toney outpointing couture in a boxing match, it's weak.

Yeah i agree especially when fighting a boxer but couture cant bang (well not compared to a boxer anyway) and he doesnt really ground and pound, he's a submissions specialist which means were either going to get a toney ko or a couture submisson - with a small chance of ground and pound from either fighter. Ko's are great to watch but if couture submits toney im not going to be impressed, i'll just be thinking well so what an all american wrestling champion submitted someone with no wrestling skills.
I would put money and probably will that the fight wont last more than the 5 minute round - the big toss up is who will win. If i put my money on toney the odds are far more rewarding.

That's not strictly true, Toney was a wrestler in High School so he does have some background in it.
Also Couture only has 3 wins by Submission(out of 18) compared to 7 from stoppages due to striking.
Now maybe because Toney's submission defence is bound to be awful he'll go that route instead of ground and pound, but normally he isn't any more likely to do that.

At the highest level of MMA, it is safe to say Toney has no ground skills. There is a huge difference between a world class wreslter who has been doing it his entire life and someone who dabbled with it years ago in high school. I would love to see Toney win, but I susepct he will be taken down right away and either submitted or ground and pounded until the fight has to be stopped. Toney will have about ten seconds to land a knockout punch before he is put on his fat ass.

I don't want to see Toney humiliated.

Couture is not a submission specialist by any means. His stock-in-trade is to maul in the clinch prior to a trip or upper-body takedown, and then use conservative g'n'p and top control.
That said, Couture winning by first round choke seems like by far the most likely outcome.

I would love Toney even more if that happened. Earlier this week he said something like 'Hopkins need to shut up and go have his teeth fixed. David Haye is gay.' He is simply funny as f*ck, even though he has been utterly deluded for years.
Surely he's going to get smashed to bits though, even though I know nothing about MMA.
the funniest thing was when he edged danny batchelder by controversial decsion: said he wasn't shot, he just looked like he was.

Toney looks shot in training and in his last fight too, its not the best time to try a completely new fighting art. However Toney is going to have a complete other level when they're on their feet, its not like 'strikers' levels below Toney havent had plenty of success in MMA.

Funny that i watch quite a bit of UFC and they always go on about Randy Couture being a great, one of the worlds best wrestles and being a submissions specialist. BUT when you look as his record its not really that impressive.
won 18 lost 10 - thats not that good even for an MMA fighter when winning all the time is near on impossible due to the amount of styles.
Look at GSP whos won 90% of his fights.

a part of me wants to see him do it.
and then fight david haye at the end of the year.
toney will come over talking a load of smack and get beat up.
perfect.
another part of me wants to see toney get splattered on the canvas and told to stfu afterwards.

I like Couture but I would love to see Toney KO him. Unfortunately I only see that happening if Randy tries to prove a point and stand toe to toe with him, which would be one of the stupidest things ever to happen in the Octagon.

I hope Toney can time Couture with a right-hand and lay him out. Wishful thinking though. The most likely outcome is that Toney finds himself on his back pretty quickly and shortly thereafter is stopped via ground and pound or submission. It would be absolutely hilarious if somehow
Toney managed to submit Couture though!
