Khan- Maidana - 11/12/10 its on?!

I don't think people can really judge how much Roach has improved Khan's defence yet as he hasn't been in with an opponent of any kind of calibre since he took over. Fagan was a part-timer, Barrera was old and had one eye but still managed to buzz him and Salita would struggle to win the british title. Kotelnik & Malignaggi were just slower versions of Khan.

This should show us if Khan has actually learnt anything or whether he is just a very well managed fighter

I think that's a bit harsh. Kotelnik is far better, and bigger, than the likes of Willie Limond or Drilzane, both of whom had Khan down. Maidana might well splatter Khan with one punch, but it's doing Khan a disservice to say he hasn't improved as a fighter. Kotelnik just gave Alexander all he could handle, but he couldn't lay a glove on Khan. This is, of course, the same Kotelnik who beat Maidana.

Good news that Khan is finally fighting someone who can punch but needs to fight Alexander or Bradley to prove something to me and seems a bit weird that just as both Alexander and Bradely were starting to call Khan out he choses his easiest option....

Just think both of them would of prefered to fight Khan as he seems the better money maker.

Just focus on your preparation and let’s meet December 11.”

“It’s ridiculous. Instead of be willing for this fight to finally happen, in the last few weeks Amir Khan has seemed to be more focused on how much I should earn. Who this guy thinks he is? He thinks he makes the rules of boxing. First, he ran scared from me during almost one year. Now he wants to be the one setting when and where we face each other. Not only that, he wants to determine what my payday should be!,” Maidana said.

“Khan should take his big nose off my own negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions and concentrate on the fight. Of course I won’t take short money for this bout since it’s a big fight. But I make it clear that I’m not overpricing myself at all since I badly want Khan next December 11,” the Argentinean added.

I think some of you are buying into Khan's PR too much. This 'new, improved' Khan has beaten five small guys who couldn't hurt hurt him. In his career he's faced only one young, hungry, big hitter... and was demolished.

He won't keep that chin out of bother for 12 rds. I fully expect Khan to be completely splattered on December 11th, and an instant revising of opinion in the press of Khan, Roach, his title, and his 'new improved style' etc.

As said. Maidana is crude. But Khan is chinny, so it kinda levels it for me.
Yes, Khan could win every round. But Maidana has the punch to ko Khan with the 1st punch he throws.

Thing is - Maidana was bad in his last fight. But he still landed the kinda punch often enough to have Khan on his bambi-like legs.
Beating Maidana won't make Khan a great. It will give his people the confidence to go after the big names though.

No excuses for Khan if he get's KO'd . Maidana is quite chinny too and I've never been impressed with him except for his power even before the Corley fight!

Against Ortiz, Maidana left himself totally open and got knocked down, yet still got up and, if I remember correctly, wasn't on shaky legs. I think Maidana and Ortiz have good chins and recuperative powers. They're both very big punchers and went all out. Has Maidana ever been hurt outside of the Ortiz fight?

Have you seen it? I haven't, but it could have been anything, a lucky punch, a slip ruled as a kd, an accidental glove touching the canvas. That was also a fight he won by ko, and by ko1 in the rematch.

If theres any people out there who think that because Maidana lost to Kotelnik and Khan beat Kotelnik so that means Khan will beat Maidana,blah,blah,blah,then they're not as clued up about boxing as they think they are!Everyone who's a true boxing fan knows that styles make fight and whilst Khan is streets ahead of maidana in terms of natural ability and technique we know that he doesnt possess the greatest of chins,we also know that Maidana hits like a mule.No other fighter than Kotelnik in my opinion in the 140 division would of stood upto the punishment that he was asborbing in that fight!Some of the shots he got hit with were gruesome and you saw his head snap back like he'd been in a car accident receiving whip lash!Even at the end of the fight even know kotelnik got the nod you only had to look at the two fighters faces to see who had done the most damage and it wasnt kotelnik!I completelty agree that if this fight goes over 12 rounds that khan will win by a huge margin and khan could also knock maidana out when he's coming into land his big shots but at the same time Maidana has the power to drop Khan like a sack of potatoes!When Khan fought Kotelnik that fight was basically tailor made for him as he could just unleash his flurry of punches and use his superior foot speed to get back out of range and if kotelnik did get in close he didnt have enough power to make it count.Thats what makes this fight intriguing!

Maidana's legs were fine. I'm still failing to agree with you on this. Maidana has a good chin.

Yeah but because he was knocked down once by some bum doesnt mean khan would do the same.I doubt khan would of recovered from some of the punches that maidana got hit flush with and on the other hand i very much doubt khan would of got up from the shot that maidana hit ortiz with in the first knockdown!

I don't know what you're saying, Lefty. Khan is, by far, a more tougher fight for Maidana than the Ortiz one. Khan can punch hard, plus he's accurate, fast and punches in bunches. I'd take that over having whirlwind power, any day of the week. Just look what happened with Burns/Martinez.

Didn't Khan get knocked down and should of been stopped by Limmond, not exactly a power puncher. Wasn't that the all time slowest 8 count just in order to protect an unbeaten prospect....

Did you not see Khan's KO? He was knocked down by a huge shot, and still got up to be knocked out properly, he was still trying to get up when he was counted out. Maidana isn't half as good as people on here seem to think he is.

I still think the shot that flattened ortiz after he had just floored maidana was bigger than the shot that prescott floored khan with initially!
