re showtime. a lot of ppl in america have it, and most stateside boxers are desperate for that kind of coverage for good money on a premium channel. so let's not overlook that, eh? froch obviously has some more TV dates, and if he loses, then he'll probably be over on HBO to fight lucian bute...

the TV situation isn't great in the UK. it seems to be sky or nothing.

all i'm saying is, froch has a slot that a lot of yanks and mexicans want.

imagine if froch had no showtime, and just itv big fight live (as an example). could itv big fight live make the big fights with kessler and abraham happen?

The last time I paid for their PPV they had no undercard and they wouldn't let me tape the show. Why wouldn't they allow me to tape it?

No idea. Anti-piracy? Nah, I haven't a clue. Which PPV was it?

It's probably something to do with the repeat shows that they try to sell in the weeks following the live event.

Who would buy the same PPV twice?

They offer an inferior service to Sky Box Office and then they insult their own paying customers by not allowing them to record a fight they have just paid £15.00 for. They won't get my money again.

If you book via box office on sky it remains on your Sky+ for a certain number of days, if you book via phone or online you cannot record - it does stress that.

It's the same for Sky box office events.... plenty of advice on this situation on other sites though. It is anti pircacy laws and they Macrovision the show.

I have never had a problem recording Sky Box Office on a tape.

Was that with Sky + (do you have the same system now). I'm pretty sure Sky and Primetime have the same box office system. Its Macrovision.

As I always say, he has been a very good manager for Froch (getting him a world title shot in Nottingham, getting him in the super 6) but a dreadful promoter (missed TV opportunities, and nobody knows who he is).

I recorded Adamek v Grant the other week, but it deleted itself after 10 days.

Im not knocking Sky, but Froch is part of a bigger picture than the UK domestic scene.

Froch is fairly big news Stateside in boxing terms thanks to the S6, compared to any other Brit - and is earning top wedge from Showtime. His scrap with Taylor won WBC fight of the year and the whole of America watched it. Wheras lets be honest, who cares a sh*t about John ruiz or bloody Monte Barrett? these guys have been festering on German undercards for god knows how long.

I think he is happy with a level of anonymity in this country.

He is happy with the odd cheesy charity appearance on TV or question of sport type stuff - but i doubt you'd catch him on Chatty Man with that goofy bastard, likewise whoring himself on the Lilly Cabbage show.

Khan probably gets as much coverage on the US websites. They are always on about the 140lb'ers.He is on HBO too.I suppose its not Haye's fault America cant produce a decent heavyweight.

What money would they lose allowing a person to keep the fight after 10 days?

How are they going to make money out of the fight after that length of time? DVD sales?

In fairness to primetime i dont have a sky or any other phone line in my house and when i signed up for the recent ward-green fight the connection fee was only £2.50 and the fight £5.99. The phone lines are easy to access at all hours with minimum waiting times if any.

Also lets hand it to prime time, the tv picture may be like dog shiite warmed up, but at least they re run all the fights 3-4 fights later.

I have seen Froch-Dirrel, Kessler-Froch, for free on prime time rereuns, and they do make you want to buy the subsequent fights. I also like the press conferences and pre fight stuff they show about the super 6. I never budgeted to buy all the fights. But i have bought 50% and the others I have watched for free a month or so after on the prime time free view.

I think they should carry on showing the fights on freeview a few weeks after the event as it helps those who like me cant afford to buy all the fights interested.

Cos of course most of us want to see the fights live.

Yes,the Sky only with phoneline was sorted out after the Direll fight i think.
