Absolutely dire to be honest, still got the fire and desire to do it but the body is no where near as willing as it used to be, although thats hardly surprising. Limond certainly won the first two and possibly three. Morales broke him down with a body attack in the 6th. Limond seemed to run out of some gas from 4th round onwards, the commentators were saying it was the usual thing apparently.

One of them said a breath of air in Mexico has bits in it - the smog is so bad apparently.

In Answer to your question though in my opinion he was 20 percent of what he used to be and any fair fight judged fairly against a top 10 contender he loses handsomely

Doesn't sound too promising for Morales for when he steps up in class again, then.

One look at Morales and you know he isn't the same fighter. Look at the fat on his back, if he is serious about his comeback, he needs to get to Lightweight and quick.He actually looks worst (condition wise) at Light welter than Marco Barrera looks at Lightweight.

I still think it could be on for one of the 2 Mexican Legends to get that fourth weight division title - but it will be a race at Lightweight. The IBF title looks up for grabs, Soto is very handy, but I would give them an outside chance at beating him. Forget about Marquez though - too much left in the tank there.

Morales isn't quarter the fighter he was, but he would be better than that if he fought at Lightweight.

Morales looked a shadow of his former self, thats the bottom line here.

Limond was outboxing him for the first few rounds, but to be fair to Morales, i dont think he was concerned by this. In the fifth (i think) Limond cracked him with a good right which brought Morales to life and as soon as he turned on the pressure for the first time in the fight, Limond was down three times and out of their.

Morales should retire, fighting the big guns at 147lbs would be the end of him, even at 140lbs the likes of Khan would dance rings around him. His hand speed and footwork are totally gone. Its sad to se him fighting on.

can morales even get down to 135? could be a bit of a liability, something to worry about before the fight.

Limmond looked like a world class boxer for the first 4 rounds, but there was always the feeling that he was keeping Morales off him for as long as he could, rather than actually setting up a 12 round win.

I didn't think Morales looked that bad. Nothing really happened in there to concern him. He picked the right time to step things up and take Limmond out of the fight.

While a top class slick boxer will definitely beat El Terrible (as we've already seen happen before), to me even at this stage of his career there is nothing wrong with his stamina or his punching skills.

If you said Katsidis to me I'd be very interested.

Limond looked very good for the first 4 and El-Terrible looked terrible. Limond was constantly on the move, coming into range getting his shots off then back out again, then in the final round he stopped his movement and went into the trenches with Erik, which meant he kept getting caught by bodyshots.

limond looked like he was just touching a blubbery morales.

morales landed some good body shots.

I watched the fight on Youtube a little earlier on, and in the early rounds Willie Limond was doing very well boxing and moving catching Erik Morales with some good clean shots and getting out of range before Morales could catch up, but sooner or later you just knew that Morales with a large partisan crowd of 54,000 behind him would finally catch and lay into him with some terrific bodyshots in the later stage of the fight when Morales finally got into his rhythem and succeding in dragging Limond into trenches it was going to be a matter of time before El Terrible would nail Limond with a fantastic bodyshot, and I have to get Limond kudos for beating the count the first time after being sliced in half.
