Boxing was always there, trying to get to the surface. Listening to my Grandad talk about Louis and Ali and looking at his three boxing books after he died when I was 11 trying to reconnect. Still miss him. Fondly picture him in the 'front room' watching boxing on the black and white portable while Grandma, still with us, was watching Live at the Palladium or whatever it was.

There are still bookmarks, made from cut up Christmas cards, in the books where he left them, they now sit among about 200 other books on my shelves.

I hung a bin liner filled with sleeping bag in my door arch, had Rocky posters and was then struck by lightening when I saw McGuigan's dad sing Danny Boy at Loftus Road (on the telly), seminal television.

Still it didn't overtake football or cricket which I played every weekend for years. Then in 1999, having watched all the mainstream fights Benn, Hamed etc I discovered the internet. The door swang open. I wrote my first article in 2001 the day after Lennox got chinned and whenever life has permitted I've writter about the sport, been to shows and wasted months of my life on here.
I finally went to an ABC three years ago at the age of 34 and lamented how much I wish I'd gone at 14 or even 24 as I loved it, overcoming demons and fears. Oh my only other tennous link was my great Uncle Ralph 'Doddi' Littlewood who was cock of Doncaster and Bruce Woodcock would never tackle him. Probably family mythology. But Doddi was a big bugga and a right handful from several independent sources.

My dad sat me down to watch the delayed coverage of Ali-Frazier 1. He knew the result and kept telling me Ali lost, but I kept telling him no, he might win this time! I've never really understood how things work ...

I am a simple fan. I've been into boxing as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest boxing memories are of me and my Dad going to Everton Park Sports Centre to watch fighters like Paul 'Livewire' Loyd and Jimmy (Shea) Neary when I must have been about 10 years old. My Dad used to own a butcher's and he ended up sponsoring Jimmy, so I actually got to walk out with him when he defended his WBU belt. I was hooked after that.

I'd like to somehow get involved in the writing side of the sport eventually - even thoughI have zero writing experience!

I grew up, through middle school and high school with a close friend who is now a professional boxer.

We used to hang out all the time, out of school too and hang out in summer. Making dens and getting up to mischief with some other lads. From the age of about 12 I remember my mate was always doing something related to boxing, training instead of coming out and so on, which lead to amateur tournaments with the club he was part of. He was always talking to me about boxing, the fights that where on at the time and getting me to watch videos of the greats that his dad had.

So my love of boxing really spawned from my good friends hobby and now profession, that he has stuck to, like he said he would when we where kids.

I even remember him jogging miles before high school started some mornings and thinking he was crazy, I was far to lazy for that. As I've always been the more academic of us two, we used to agree that 'I was the brains and he was the brawns' even though through school I always held my own in scraps and was '2nd hardest' in school, 1st being my mate. Me and him only ever had one fight against eachoter, in the summer hol's one day been, when we where about 14. I won, as I purposely poked him in the eye (there was no ref so I fought dirty, plus he had been boxing training for a couple years and I was just a brawler lol) and I kept swinging, no intention to do any serious harm of course, his dad let us scrap for a bit as he saw us swinging in the back garden, before breaking us up and making us shake hands. HAHA

So I have loved boxing for over ten years and mainly the British scene. Now I'm in my mid 20's and I'm sure I will enjoy British boxing for years to come.

Got into boxing when i was about 8. Started taking it seriously in my teens and was a county champion for couple years on the bounce aswell as being an NABC county champ for one of those years, before drifting out of the gym. But always maintained a hardcore interest in the sport. I still go to a boxing gym to stay in shape, and am also a sometime writer/reporter for the13thround.com. Scott Lawton was one of my gym mates back in the day.

McGuigan v Pedroza was my first experience of watching big fight.

Then like many others watched the big Bruno, Eubank, Benn nights etc etc.

Really got into when my mate said 'come round and watch this jug eared twat hopefully get smashed'

I watched Naz kick crap out of Sergio Liendo then from then I was hooked.

More recently have written for BBN and currently write for the news site on here.

Without sounding a bit sad I have managed to access boxing things I never thought I would and loving every minute.

Only got into boxing when I was 16.

Went to the lakes with me auldfella and brother for his school project. Pissing down outside so there was no chance I was going out to 'take photos'. Sat in on me own and caught the 2005 ABA finals. Think there were 7 Scousers in the 12 or so weights.

Saw Swifty for my first time, looking destructive, and was an instant fan. Then saw some fat, Scouse kid get beat by Danny Price in the heavyweight final, was gutted because I took an instant liking to the fat kid. Think his name was Tony Bellew :OhYes:

Things went from there. Watched as much as I could. Bought the Pacman v Morales trilogy and fell in love with Pacmans style (and even now it's improving).

These days, I watch all the fights I can find. Know the domestic scene quite well. Been to a few shows despite not having any mates who are arsed. My only dark area is the old stars of boxing, I don't know enough of this beautiful sport's history.

Also, biggest regret is not getting into boxing earlier. Would love to have given it a go. All I can do now is try and support my younger cousin who isn't look bad 7 amateur fights in.

I am a huge fan of boxing and always have been. In the last 5 years I have watch more of the domestic scene and this has really hightened my addiction for the sport and I have been able to watch some of the best fights ever in doing so.

I dont get to go to events as much as I like, but will be in Birmingham on the 18th and am really excited.

Hope all the pro's stay on the forum, it is great they all come on.

I walked into a gym when I was about 20 and fell in love with it. Trained alongside the pro's for a few years and got my licence from the board. Co-owned a gym for a bit too. Had my own pro's for a while. Have worked the corner of probably well over 100 fights.

As a little boy in the late 70's i remember Rocky & Apollo and wet my pants when Clubber Laing appeared in about 1985.

The music, everything about it. I used to drink a raw egg and shadow box around the room in my E.T pyjamas.

I still do this to this day.
