Thanks Glyn.....weirdly my memory for more recent fights and fighters fades...but I can remember a lot more about the fighters in my teens/early twenties.

I remember Mason raving about him, and also saying, perhaps a bit oddly, that his dream was to find a half-Jewish (ethnically I guess), half-black heavyweight as that combo would sell the most tickets....

Now, if only Roman Greenberg's mother has procreated with someone else.... :D
Well if it helps, Cedric Boswell fkked him royally a year or so ago.

Lol. I liked Gary, he was a funny sod. Know exactly what you mean about remembering old fighters and fights better though, we've got a feature on John "The Beast" Mugabi in the next issue and for some reason I had a really clear memory of what was probably one of the least important fights of his career, at the Latchmere Leisure Centre in Battersea, against Kevin Whaley-El! Go figure lol.

Yeah, like someone who could have passed on some genes that would have made him actually good at professional boxing.

Thankfully he's got what seems like good people around him.

All the best dealing with all the snakes of this world Ricky.
Good people around him? If he had he wouldn't be in this mess. They have all watched him decend into this mess and trying to turn him in to some sort of victim is pathetic. He's been
doing it for ages, boozing and probably coke, it the worst kept secret in boxing He got caught thats his only regret.

Well, I for one am pleased someone has shed some light on the matter! And for it being reported that some "Gangster" demanding money from him, listen, REAL Gangsters DON'T behave like that!

A Rea Gangster goes about their business quietly, walks in the shadows of others people!

These Newspapers really do exaggerate!

I heard he likes to wear women's panties and pose for photos.

It's a shame he can't come to terms with the fact he lost to a couple of this generation's finest. Like Haye, he enjoyed going for years undefeated. And when that happens, you know the public are hoping for a brilliant win or a crushing loss in every fight. At a distance, we can all acknowledge and respect his dedication in training camps. Those weeks and months when he stopped drinking, took the punishment of sparring, and got on with them big hills. He achieved a hell of a lot - as much as his talent allowed, and he did that through a willpower 99% of us haven't shown.

But when it's you, you forever carry the disappointment of feeling dispossessed of all you worked for, because people bang on about losses that were decided at birth. On balance, Ricky never had the dignity in defeat of a Floyd Patterson. But still, his career's done now and I think the negativity - as far as boxing goes - should end.

if anything I think the fact that Hatton clearly fcking ADORES a pint, and has abstained and dieted the number of times he has done, and done the business to boot, is something to give him credit for. When you've got a taste for the drink like that and yet rip your body into tip-top condition probably a hundred times or so over a number of weeks before your 30th, and rack up 50 mil along the way, I take my hat off to him tbh.

in fact having seen lads first hand whose entire goal in life is to be crowned British Champ....which Ricky admits he was once one of such lads, to be honest I give him great Kudos for taking on hard fckers like Prime Thaxton's and Magee's at the tender age of 21-22-23 etc... and winning. No mean feat at all.

Its gone beyond the stage of even enjoying a pint.I would say drink is his main problem.Alcohol is a massive depressant when abused and if he was struggling to come to terms with his last loss and life outside the ring,it wont have helped. If he takes care of his drink problem the rest will sort itself out.
