Is it me or does this all sound like an episode of the Inbetweeners.

I'm waiting for someone to ask why he didn't borrow a tramp's shoes.

I would have told the security guard where to get off and gone in anyway, by the time I was in there Carl would have sorted things out, he is a good bloke, sounds like your head wasn't right and were happy to use the circumstances not to fight

If I hear one more person mention the Inbetweeners, I may have to actually try watching it. Is it as good as people say? Also, how old are you, I think I may be too old to 'get it'.
Well I'm 37 mucka and I piss myself at some of it. Not all. But it still has echoes I recognise from my Victorian education in the late 1890's.

I have enough to think about leading up to a show if you would of rang me and said carl im from cumbria and my cornerman are from barnsley do you mind if i bring a couple of lads with me i would of said no prob id of put there names on the door and there would of been no problem. But no one told me and im not a mind reader. After it happened no one could get hold of you your cornerman john tried and so did i. My phone was on all the time because my staff called me to tell me what happened and i never got a call from you. Only you no why you left without fighting lee nobody else. No hard feelings lee but you have disapointed me whatever action the board take is up to them ive not spoke to them about it but what i have just wrote is the truth and you no it. Im surprised you have even come on here to talk about it its happened and thats that.

youve come on here to defend yourself with a pack of lies lee.I no where your from but never had one call saying you would be bringing 2 mates with you so my staff was doing there job. Chris aston ask me if he could have a few extra come in and i said no prob i put there name on door and there was no problem. Im a good guy lee people in the game who no me will tell you the same but coming on here starting all this is making me look bad. Theres no way i would of come all the way from cumbria and leave without a penny you should of put your wrist band on and come and got me it would of been sorted. You obviously didnt want to fight that bad.

Anyone who has worked with Carl Greaves in the past will tell you he's a top fella, I've loads of time for Carl as he's a honest and fair bloke (fornicating hardly any in pro boxing)

I know for a fact if u contacted Carl he would of sorted it out, to be honest does seem a shit excuse why u didnt fight

goldbird wrote:I believe Kellsy. I think he came all that way so hes hardly going to be looking for a way out. he knows his level as he has said on the thread "im just a journyman" so I think he is an honest lad. The promotor did him a disservice in my opinion and the staff was unhelpful. This guy was boxing on the show and should have been able to bring a mate to look after him. the fact that the promotor still comes on and says that he wouldn't allow a mate to come in with the fighter proves the point. for gods sake, the man is coming and putting his life on the line and the promotor is making money off it. the least he can do is let a mate in so that the fighter can be given a lift home safely.
I am pretty sure Carl Greaves will maintain an adequate level of empathy towards fighters considering his former career. His rules are simple and fair: 1 fighter + 2 support (trainer/cornerman). Any others have to be paid for unless he says otherwise.

Good security people stick religiously to the rules and were I employing a firm to watch a venue and they started letting people in on a whim, I would not be pleased. In other words, the security staff did nothing wrong.

Thirty minutes before a show starts, the last thing a promoter wants is pestering with "can such and such have two complimentary...?" However, rather than getting the hump and storming off, Kellsey could've left his mate(s) at the door, wandered in and found Carl himself - if he was that bothered. Why was this not done?
Bang on Macho. I am 100% in agreement with that assessment.

Kellsey, I don't know you from Adam, but to be honest you made the wrong decision at every turn.

From you perspective you live in a rural area and transport is an issue. Your manager and/or trainer don't live close at hand to assist you so you that exacerbates the issue. If you get stopped heavily in a fight there are then repercussions with regards getting home.

Carl is a good guy and all you had to do was inform him of the situation beforehand instead of trying, what sounds like a bluff with the doormen, to say that the two guys with you were your support staff/cornermen.

The security staff, lets call them doormen, were right not to let the guys with you in because of the rules put in place by their employer - Carl. One fighters and two support staff. As the proper support staff had already signed in then the only one left on the your ticket was you. They cant go letting more in unless Carl gives the OK.

So now you are in a pickle. What do you do to resolve it? Well you have options.

A. You could have called Carl earlier in the week when things were quiet and said - "listen, my head aint right at the moment and my manager lives in Barnsley (where does you trainer live?), can I bring a driver down with me incase I get stopped?"

I very much doubt Carl would have turned down a request like that.

B. You could have arrived earlier in the day when thing weren't so busy and sorted it out by using the same line.

C. You could have paid the boys in or got them to pay themselves in and then raised the issue when you went to get paid, or made the boys wait in the car/go for a meal/brasshouse/pub/art gallery (delete as appropriate) and see them later.

Sure these options are not ideal but are better then the course of action you took.

D. Call Carl, or better still go in yourself and find him and let him, at the very last minute mind you, know what the situation is and see if he can resolve it.

You cant expect a doorman to leave the door - you had Carls number and you had a pass to get into the venue - therefore you had access to Carl to sort it out.

E. Have a strop, blow up and tell them "fornicate it, if my mates aint getting in, I aint fighting" then drive off home leaving another fighter without an opponent.

Not very professional.

lets step through this rationally.

When did you realise there was going to be a transport issue and that you would need a driver?

You've avoided the question mate.

Anyway, why didnt you go in to the venue with the pass you had in order to inform him of the issue instead of leaving him in the lurch and just making a phonecall that never got through to him.

It may not be as entertaining for us but seeing as both Lee and Carl have each others contact details they should probably sort this issue outside of the public domain. Arguing over a public forum isn't going to help things.

At the end of the day you badly let Carl down.I saw Ibbotson on a show in Feb at The Dome that my mate boxed on and John shifts a few tickets. There will have been a lot off pissed of punters who have paid just to see John box.Its out of order, the security man did nothing wrong. Were you involved in some row with a different promoter a little while back?
