It would be a shame for Paul David especially after Tony Dodson pulled out of 2 fights with him previously. Let's hope he gets kept in the mix.
ur mixed up there dodson didnt pull out of any fight.
He pulled out injured twice against David. The first time he boxed a week later on a show overseas.

It disappoints me that he says he had an off night. There are lots of things to work on from that fight. It exposed lots of weaknesses that need to be corrected in order to keep winning.
all of what you say could be significantly influenced by ringrust, though.
Not totally, though I agree he was a clear enough winner in the end, having much more in the tank. Must be worrying to be dumped by a relatively light puncher though.

I'll be annoyed if they do pull the fight off the bill as i know cards are always "subject to change" but pulling the main event after allowing for all the ticket sales (including me) based on Smigga fighting is disgusting. I wonder if they will offer refunds if they do remove the Smith fight.

Dont get me wrong i would love to see Bellew again but other than that at a £150 per ticket i would feel short changed!

150 quid for a ticket thats incredible money, not sure if I'd pay that amount to watch Pacman-Mayweather.

The current boxing rumour is that Paul Smith defends his British super-middleweight title against former Olympic champion James DeGale in an eyecatching match on a big bill in London in December to mark F rank Warren’s 30 long years in the licenced game.
Mr Warren’s first proper show featured two plodding American light-heavyweights, soon to be followed by a series of Joe Bugner fights – ugh! – but he took Bugner to a huge payday against Frank Bruno in 1987 and this one looks the part. It pits the strong, rugged, aggressive Smith against the clever, flashy, improving DeGale, who struck middleweight gold in Beijing in 2008 and comes off an impressive first-round stoppage of ex-squaddie Carl Dilks in Birmingham last month, to take his record to just 8-0 (6). Londoner DeGale is beginning to sit down on his shots, after one or two hesitant early displays, but obviously steps up against the seasoned Smith, whose only defeat in 30 outings came on a contentious 10-round decision to Coventry’s Steve Bendall in 2008, a southpaw like DeGale.
The 28-year-old Smith (well, 28 on Wednesday) went from Contender to British champion when he got past Tony Quigley over 12 lusty rounds in his home city of Liverpool last October. He retained with another bruising decision over Tony Dodson earlier this year, shrugging off cuts. Nice guy Paul, who was unable to progress in Contender in 2007 due to injuries after a solid win over American David Banks, can be tagged and does mark up but his chin holds out and - cut or otherwise - he knows how to grind out a win, biffing away well to the body and wearing down the opposition. He certainly lacks nothing in willingness.
However, you wonder if Smith has levelled out as British champion, wading in quite predictably at times, whereas DeGale looks to have more variety about his current work. He certainly has more potential at 24, although the same was true of Smith in his early pro years. Paul also held Jean Pascal to a tight verdict in the amateurs.
The difference in experience between the two is vast but might be cancelled out by DeGale’s great amateur form, and James looks the more naturally talented fighter, with good speed and an increasingly decent dig, of course. He is also one of those 'big' super-middleweights, whereas Smith looks a bit loose-fleshed. However, we have yet to see DeGale really pushed back into the trenches, and this is where Smith will be planning to push him in December in front of a travelling army of his Liverpool supporters. The have-a-go champion is a big ticket-seller; the cocksure DeGale, right now, attracts the sort of fans who want to see him beaten.
This is fascinatingly poised, then, the Scouser versus the aristocrat, the bull versus the matador. DeGale loves himself, and Smith will be thirsting to give him a great, big 12-round welcome to the more hateful realities of the game. However, if DeGale is being stepped up so soon, he is being stepped up for a reason

Predict the odds for Degale vs smith...

Degale 1/4
Smith 7/2
Draw 33/1

I would be lumping on Degale even at that price.

I think it would be brilliant if he stood up to the plate and fought Degale. He'd have a great chance this early into Degales pro career aswell. What a way it would be to win a lonsdale belt outright.

I think Smith would be shorter odds than that maybe 5/2

Yeah, Yid. I could see it just a little bit closer. Perhaps DeGale 1/2 and Smith 11/8.

Would you take Smith at 11/8? I think with all the hype surrounding Degale I'd like a little more.

Yes, I would have a little bet on that, but not much though. Perhaps £50 or so.

No chance Degale is anywhere near 1/2 for the fight. He will be around 1/3 maybe. Possibly 4/11.
