It didn't help, Datsue, but that is not my argument.
& what exactly is your argument?

That loaded gloves help fighters to win fights, that is why they do it.

What is your argument? That loaded gloves have no effect on the outcome of a fight?

I think his argument is that hand wraps are as effective as Wrigley's chewing gum.

My argument is outlined in my posts above.

I do not believe Cotto's face is evidence that Margarito loaded his gloves.

Why do you?

You seemed to be suggesting that you didn't think loaded gloves are any more likely to mess up someone's face than normal gloves.
Datsue wrote:Why do you?
When did I say I considered it evidence?

Margarito could well have damaged Cotto's face without illegal items in his hand wraps. However, if he did have anything in his wraps then I believe it would have helped him to damage Cotto's face more than he would have without them.

I apologise.

However, once again: kindly to explain how a --what, three & a half inch? If that?-- thing in amongst your handwraps did this:

Image

Unless it was a three & a half inch long lump of concrete, which Margarito had tied to a baseball bat, there is nothing in it to make the many accusers shout so loud. Cotto was beaten by the better man that night, & people conveniently like to forget that.
Anything hard in the gloves, is going to increase the chances of facial damage.

Knuckles aren't very large either, but hey, they bust your face up. Gloves although not designed to do anything other than protect hands initially, lessen the amount of damage to the face. Why? Because they are softer than the bare knuckles.

It follows them that inserting a hard strip into the hand wraps is going to increase the chances of producing facial damage, that's surely a given?

cotto's face was a pretty bad mess vs judah, i recall. it's not like cotto doesn't bleed or swell up, in case ppl maybe want to exaggerate.

You should not load your gloves with plaster of paris. As simple as that. For me it leaves HUGE question marks over his other key fights now.A real shame, as he is a fine fighter in his own right, and by all accounts a pleasant bloke, but, there is no justification for what he/his trainer did.None whatsoever.

i'm not sure what Oprah's weight is like nowadays but i am guessing Floyd would be stipulating some kind of minimum before he tangled with her

No nobody is saying he is the adamantium man or anything, but it was quite spectacular just how quickly he seemed to mark up against Margarito he really didn't ship that many shots before his face began caving in, I believe Graham Houston mentioned something aboutn it in his report.

Now it may just be that the broken nose hampered his breathing, causing him to tire, and amplifying the effects of further punches. We will never know for sure.

However we DO know that Margarito tried something dodgy against Mosley for which he was banned - and it's not unreasonable to presume that they may well have tried this on other occasions.

one thing that looks bad for margarito - and i've not checked it to be 100% - is that in the aftermath of his last few fights i've not seen his gloves taken off. like thye've left them on as long as possible. i did think it looked strange at the time, that he had them on longer than apparently most fighters. i'm sure someone can come along and contradict me for this or that fight, though.
