The British boxing board should but out they ban people too easily and do nothing in other cases. Look at all the mismatch they sanction!

If he is not yet convicted he is not a criminal.

People with criminal records should be allowed to earn a living, same as everyone else, so really this thread is pointless.

Of course he should.

If he can pass a medical and is ranked, why not?

It's the fighters that can't compete at a given level that shouldn't be allowed to box for a living, for their own H & S, as well as the reputation of the sport.

He has admitted in court to commiting a crime. What more does he have to do to be called a criminal?

I think he still has to be convicted before he's legally considered a criminal.

I fully expect Chisora to be fighting Klitschko as scheduled and I think he has a great chance of winning.

Definition

criminal noun /ˈkrɪm.ɪ.nəl/ n [C] someone who commits a crime.

He's just waiting for sentencing.

I think he should be allowed to fight, but not if he has a suspended sentence hanging over him. Our sport needs some dignity.

Yes, he should have the right to earn an honest living, in these very controlled conditions.

I certainly think sex offenders should never be allowed to work with children (for example), but thats different.

Dictionary definitions are not always quite the same as legal definitions.

Not paying, free of charge, BOOM!!! :bag:
Career high pay day and a free trip into space? Chisora is one lucky guy.
And not forgetting the potential misfortune of being Wladimir K's 50th Knockout victim (well I guess some poor sod has to be!!). As for whether or not he should be allowed to fight on as pleaded to guilty to assault, Kell Brook got Community Service I think on his assault charge while Newcastle United striker has to fork out £3,500 on one of his assault charges that he is facing at the moment, so I suggest let Derek Chisora fight for the World title

Lionel?

Not "Lionelya" whom let 2 guests view boxing in his lounge at some unearthly hour about a decade ago because he had a satellite which could pick up some obscure eastern-european TV channel....and had no boxing mates willing to stay up until such a silly hour to watch a fight between two blokes they hadn't heard of.

Almost everyone has committed a crime. Does that mean we are all criminals?

If you go to your local police station and tell them what crimes you have commited, I'm sure they'll find you a bunk!

A lad I worked with hit someone in the face with a bottle. He served nearly 2 years (if memory serves), despite it being his first offence.

Another mate ran someone and killed them after 4 pints and a line of Bolivian. he served a lot longer - again first offence.

As with the two above, Chisora is a criminal, because he assaulted someone. He should go to jail (to discourage him doing it again), but he'll probably get a fine and a suspended sentence.

This is a daft thread! The assault is going to be common assault which means no injuries so that could be as little as a push. If it was ABH the maximum sentence is 5years in prison where as common assault is 6months. To suggest that a person of previous good character be sent to jail for common assault is laughable. The prisons are full, even prolific offenders are being released early or given tags to try and free up prison space. As has already been said if having a criminal record was a bar to getting a boxer's licence then we would lose a lot of good boxers. Everybody can change and most deserve a chance to prove that.

Mayeather Jnr is a walking assault case and that doesn't seem to matter...It's not a tickling contest in or out of a ring for boxers it would seem.

I wouldn't say it's daft. 16% of people (I'm the OP - and I'm not one of them) say he should fight at all.

Yes - the very same sir! And what a fine evening that was. Don't think it was Nonya with you though. I don't think my front room would have been big enough for Nonya!

Kell Brook got no Community Service on his assault charge ' He appealed and got the conviction squashed' And a lot on here said ban him. so let dereck fight you could be wrong.

If he assaulted a female, I would not be very impressed, in fact not at all impressed. :x Sorry, but slapping a woman and him being a big lump like him, is pathetic in my book. :shame:

Derek assaulted his girlfriend Yalda Kontratchy. He hit a woman. I've never hit a woman in my life. That's just wrong.

It's hardly Chisora's first crime in the UK. He's got a long record of violent crimes. Silly question - since the UK is deliberately being destroyed by immigration invasion - but why isn't Chisora deported back to Africa from whence he came?

That was a silly question, this a boxing forum not an English Defence League forum. The question that was asked was should he be allowed to box? If he does as you wish and "Goes back to where he came from" then thats not going to stop him boxing is it!
