Oscar was a safety first fighter. Too much caution for his own good... Aaron Pryor was a complete fighting machine that threw punches from different angles. He could box, and he could also fight inside and has an unbelievable stamina. De La Hoya could not beat a class c fighter like John John Molina at lightweight. How would he deal with a ferocious and fearless punching machine like Pryor?crusader wrote:and you've made such a strong case as to why that couldn't happenelmersalsa wrote:I cannot believe the majority of the answers....De La Hoya beating Pryor?![]()

Yeah, De La Hoya at Jr. Welter was nothing if not, "safety-first"
Are you kidding, Elmer? I know you hate Oscar, but you are really going off the deep-end now. He was a fvcking wrecking machine at 135-140lbs.

good match-up.. agree with most of the sentiments; this is going to be a tough fight for both fighters..
I'll go with Oscar with a thin UD win..

Those statements make you sound like you are really a DLH hater, or don't know how to really rank a fighter. Molina a class C fighter? I were to rank him he would make a solid B fighter. DLH did not have to take that fight. He did it to prove he was the best, and he had Molina hurt several times during that fight. Molina had to hold on for dear life and for me it was a clear win for DLH.elmersalsa wrote:Oscar was a safety first fighter. Too much caution for his own good... Many people seem to over-rate Pryor's boxing skills. He was an all action fighter but he was not a better technician than DLH. DLH to the best of his abilities would've out-boxed Pryor.

Molina whupped DLH's ass. I saw John John win the fight. De La Hoya never knew how to fight good in the inside. Pryor could fight inside, outside, can box and was also fast. Not to mention his extraordinary work rate. He never stopped punching. He was an opponent's nightmare. And he could hit, too.Idisagree wrote:Those statements make you sound like you are really a DLH hater, or don't know how to really rank a fighter. Molina a class C fighter? De La Hoya vs Molina, DLH was doing all the holding. I don't know how the judges gave him the fight.
