Re: Audley Harrison: 'Haye is nervous. He knows I am the master'

"Whatever any boxer does in the ring, I don't think any reporter should call him a coward. Anyone who does that I lose complete respect for. There's a difference between being a coward and being scared, or apprehensive. Different fighters have got different mentalities.... If I'm standing in front of an 18-stone guy [Harrison weighed 18st 1½ lb], he can take a shot. I'm 15-and-a-bit [just half a pound over]. Who do you think is going to take a better shot? I know that. I've got no illusion that I've got a chin like Marvin Hagler... I don't trade on my toughness. Never have done, nor will do....
Apart from the usual load of curmudgeons & professional trolls hereabouts, I fail to see how any person with half a brain can take a dislike to David.
Also: he talks about himself in the first person. That is genuinely bloody refreshing these days.

Audley is delusional. He thinks because he won gold he is one of the greatest fighters ever, what a joke. What decent fighter has he ever beaten, or for that matter looked good against? I don't doubt for one second he will be up for this fight, he looks in good shape and has a lot to win but he doesn't punch his weight and never backs up his tough words. Early win for Haye.

Who's the "boxing expert" of 5 live right now ? He says compared to PacMan/Marg, Haye/Aduley is more Blackpool v Brentford, which was quite funny, but then he says Haye is an ordinary fighter, another Herbie Hide. What a knob !

Haye and been compared to Hide before. Both were cruiser-weights, both fast and powerful and both have dubious chins. The difference is Haye has way more heart than Hide ever did.

Yeah I know, chinny bangers etc, but Haye has WAY more than old Herb ever had ( or has ) he gets UP from knockdowns for starters. Just a dumb comparison by the R5 talking head.

I dispute that.
Haye has openly ducked the Klitshckos.
Hide went in with Riddick Bowe and got knocked down 7 times and got up - and went in with Vitali and got knocked out - plenty of heart there.
Hide himself said - "The Klitshckos are to be respected - but David Haye is a joke"
While I dont think David Haye is a joke - I get the setiment of what he is saying.

Hide had to fight Bowe, it was Hides WBO title defence. Plus Vitali was practically unheard of when he fought Hide, he was 24-0 but hadn't fought anyone of note and it wasn't expected to be that hard a fight for him. I hear what you are saying but by heart I mean when the going gets tough out of the two I would back Haye to grit his teeth and fight on more than Hide would.
