The only boxing mag I can get here in Thailand is The Ring, which comes in at close to eight quid. Nevertheless I still buy it sometimes, but I'd much rather spend it on the superior BM. I'm sure I know the answer already, but worth an ask!
I think you probably do Oliver! As far as Asia goes, BM is distributed in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, but no Thailand I'm afraid, sorry. As Macho correctly says, a subscription would be the way — we've got a fair few subscribers in Asia and Australia. 100 quid? I wish! Thailand comes under 'rest of the world', which is £57.
Singapore, huh? I've never seen it there. Any idea which specific shops?

The sub price (which I presume you meant to say 75?) is actually more reasonable than I thought. Maybe I was thinking of the BN price.

No mate, 57. And no, no idea which specific shops in Singapore, just that we are distributed there.

Your website says 75 for Australasia and Rest of the World Glyn:

USA, Americas and South Africa:
1 year £57.00
2 years £105.00

AUSTRALASIA and Rest of the World:
1 year £75.00
2 years £140.00

Good spot Deserter, thanks for pointing that out - website is wrong, 'Rest of the World' belongs with the USA section not Australasia. Someone's been sloppy there.

But to make things clear, particularly for Oliver in this specific instance, it's definitely £57 for 'Rest of the World'.

Thanks again Deserter, I'd never have seen that.

No worries, you'll hopefully be glad to know that I was looking because I was considering taking the plunge myself - there are always mates, colleagues etc flying to and from the UK who I get to pick up a copy, but it's erratic so I miss certain issues just because no-one's travelling that month e.g. I missed the one with the Adam Smith interview.
Given that I'm contemplating awarding myself an early Christmas present. I assume Dubai falls into the same 57 quid category?

Any idea when the January issue will be available on the boxing monthly app Glyn? Doesn't seem to be up there yet.

Glyn, is the subscription cheaper to d/l than buy the paper-based version?

Also is it available direct from your website (as I presume Apple take 50% of your revenue from iTunes)?

Any idea how much the ipad app costs per issue?

Is it just a representation of the mag or, like The Times app amongst others, does it have embedded interactive content, videos etc?

A question for Glyn and pardon my ignorance of these technical matters .

I was thinking of getting a KINDLE with , I hope , all that money my family will give me for Christmas . Would I be able to subscribe to BM via KINDLE or is it specific to the I Pad ?

Cheers .

I'm all for technology but I don't think you can beat having a magazine in your hand and reading it leaf for leaf. Usually buy my boxing mag's from my newsagent but after reading this I decided that I'm going to go for the subscription (and free mug). It works out roughly the same price. The magazines will look smashing in my BM binder when I order it. :DD

Keep up the good work, Glyn and BM team. :TU:

PMSL! Just seen my attempted response to Galway Jack from my phone, doesn't that exemplify what a technological caveman I am! Classic.

Grabbing a few hours on line today before I return to 'the darkness' until early Jan. Genuine apologies for my lack of knowledge of the app - I know why I wanted to do it but have no idea how it was done, it is produced by an outside company and is a very new relationship for BM so please keep me informed of your findings and make observations as and when, it's important to me that we get this right for you.

Any questions you may have regarding the app, please ask me and I will get answers when I am unable to provide them myself.

Thanks for the support and all the best. See you on the other side.

I recently bought a Kindle, and it's brilliant. Several of the newspapers are already available in the Amazon store, meaning that each morning you can wake up to the latest paper, just like that, and it's cheaper. One of the current downsides is the lack of images, even though the Kindle is capable of displaying them.

It is the way forward for books, magazines and newspapers. Over the next couple of years we'll get to see that. I don't think the print versions will be going away for a long while yet, though.

In conclusion, I'm eagerly awaiting one of the boxing magazines to show they know their stuff and get themselves in the Kindle store.

Asterix, tell me about Kindle please mate. Our original hope was to have the app go across all the various bits of kit available, but it seems the people handling it can't put it on Kindle, 'different technology'. Am I right in saying that Kindle is a text only thing, no pictures, graphics etc?

Not really. The Kindle can handle images. Here's the latest version it, Kindle 3:

That gives you an idea of what a newspaper can look like. I haven't looked into the technology behind it as I've not needed to.

Here's a link to see what magazines are available on the Kindle: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magazines-Journ ... =341690031

Mmm, ta. Don't see why they shouldn't be able to come up with something to go on there. Is the addition of pictures a relatively recent thing?

I'll ask them to look into it Asterix. Wish it was something I could 'do' myself, but it really isn't my area so I'm reliant on others unfortunately.

And no Jeff, it's a separate subscription to the mag - nice try though lol!

If I were you, I'd contact Amazon UK about it. Their support team have been good to me. They have a really easy way to publish books through them, so maybe they have something similar for magazines?
