Hope you like my first 2 (the reason for 2 is they were supposed to be on the same bill in Japan I think) that involve great British fighters.
OK here goes..
Bruno V Mercer.. Mercer stops Bruno late
Morrison V Hide..Hide stops Morrison after eing dropped himself in a slugfest in 6
What do you think?
wasn't bruno vs mercer ment to fight on a show in hong kong that was cancelled a couple of days before the show ??? i know they were both on the show but not sure if they were ment to face each other ???
Yes each other as was Hide v Morrison.
Morrison said "I would have killed Herbie Hide"

Ricky Hatton was top drawer at ten stone but not half as good at welter; Colin Jones was a very destructive welter puncher and very fit. I think Jones would have beaten Ricky inside the distance.
Prince Naseem was THE best British feather and Barry McGuigan would have been well beaten.
I'd like to imagine Naseem v Azumah Nelson or Jeff Fenech (all at their peaks).
Bomber Graham v Bernard Hopkins would have been a masterclass of counter punching, evasiveness and ring generalship.
Amir Khan v Hector Camacho would have had warp speed; they'd have to slow it down for telly.
Ensley Bingham v Wayne Alexander would have been a white knuckle shootout; I'd give Ensley the edge but wouldn't put a penny on it.

Hamed beats Morales but gets stopped by PacMan, I see this playing out like the Kelley fight only Naz is the KO victim.
Bit you never know that cocky wee Arab might have walked right through PacMan at 130.
I happen to think that Naz would have destroyed him at 126.

Stir it up a bit here.
Bruno V Audley Harrison when it was discussed just before Bruno was sectioned. Bruno would still have taken him.
McGuigan V J C Chavez at Super Feather if McGuigan had moved up before the Cruz fight. Chavez was tight and beatable at the weight at this time.

Julio Cesar Chavez would've loved to have sparred Barry McGuigan; honestley Julio was only a featherweight for a short time and had not got anywhere near his peak untill he was a lightweight and junior welterweight. Barry would not have been ok in Chavez' gym

That's my point. McGuigan's results around feather and superfeather against common foes of Chavez compare favourably. McGuigan beat Laporte easily whilst Chavez really stuggled with Laporte. Chavez easily beat Cabera while McGuigan struggled with Cabrera. I really think McGuigan would have competed well against the super feather version of Chavez. I am not comparing peak for peak.

I was going to mention Morales Hamed but got beaten to it.
Here is my contribution to the fun
Ricky Hatton v Arturo Gatti at Light Welter
Joe Calzaghe v Tommy Hearns at Light Heavy
Barry McGuigan v Naseem Hamed at Featherweight
Terry Marsh v Julio Cesar Chavez Sr at Light Welter
John Conteh v Chris Finnegan at Light Heavy

Hatton late stoppage - just a better fighter
Tommy close but clear UD - better jab, JC is too open to beat a technician like Hearns
Hamed late stoppage
Chavez late stoppage
Conteh

Agreed but I'd fancy Joe to do an Iran Barkley on Hearns a LHW.

I wouldn't rule it out.
It depends on how well Calzaghe took Hearns' punches. He had a solid chin and all.... but didn't face anyone that could open him up the way Hearns would. He'd have to come forward, on the back foot he'd be outjabbed and hit with lead rights all night long, but even on the way in he'd be tagged with uppercuts too.
What world class fighters did Calzaghe stop though..... that had a stronger beard than Hearns. I know he was 36 but he should have been able to stop Roy Jones, who was knocked spark out by an average Johnson years previous.
If Tommy could fight the way he did against Virgil Hill (possibly his best win) he'd have a comfortable night against Joe and emerge an 8-4 winner.

Hmm I think Joe would swarm all over Tommy to negate his outside game.
Could see it going the other way also though.

For me it is got to be
Lewis: Dominating with the jab all night long
Haye v Holyfield: Is that at Cruiserweight or Heavyweight?
Calzaghe will take Toney on points as his constant pressure will catch up with Toney's defence.
Benn v Zale would be an utter tear up with Benn taking a late stoppage
Honeyghan v Mayweather, I am taking Mayweather on points.
Next match ups.
Freddie Mills v John Conteh
Ricky Hatton v Miguel Cotto
Joe Bugner v Danny Williams

Conteh and Finnegan fought twice in the 1970s, with Conteh butting the life out of poor Chris on the way to double victory. Finnegan dubbed the Liverpool man "pickle head."

I must have seen on their records but my mind went blank when I wrote. I will swap Finnegan for Nathan Cleverly.

Haye would shit his pants and retire at the thought of facing Evander Holyfield.
The man is a joke, and he's mugging you all off.

The problem Calzaghe would have against Tommy is that he'll find himself outboxed from the first bell, and will be getting drawn onto right hands....... in order to win this fight he'll have to be pretty reckless and hope that Hearns' chin lets him down.... but he'll cop plenty of uppercuts on the way in.
I'll change my pick to Tommy by mid round stoppage..... people forget how bad a hiding he was giving Barkley. It's a wonder he wasn't in a state afterwards.

i don't think anyone forgets, at all. just about any post on the subject will contain some kind of reference to Barkley's being cut in two with bodyshots and having his face sliced open.

Yeah, people forget just how similar Joe and Iran are. Joe isn't knocking anyone out at LHW, not even Hearns.
Nonsense, had Calzaghe boxed at LH early in his career I'd fancy to be a bit of a puncher.
Look...Nard was slippy and Jones (I believe)was carried in the latter stages.
If Leonard, Hill, Hagler etc etc could take Hearns power then I'd fancy Joe to wear him down and stop him.
Thats not to say that Tommy might spark him with a 1 punch ko.
