From the 3rd round on, didn't fight like someone who'd just been through the above.
While not necessarily a positive, 2 of our best current world champions experienced a 'bad spell' early on against fighters perceived to be several levels below them. Haye against Mock and Thompson. Khan against Gomez, Limond and Prescott. Bad days and bad defeats aren't surefire indicators that a fighter won't make it, they're warning signs that something needs to be addressed.
Stuck with it, broke down and eventually dropped and stopped a very game challenger.
showed bags of character to recover and win...a performance which has been overshadowed by the rather odd stoppage...i don't dispute stoppage but why let ovil get up and then pretty much stop it the next second...not that it changed the outcome just seems a bit odd.

Think Bomber and Cleverly's shortcomings were highlighted Saturday. Tony needs to stop talking so much and work on his defence, despite showing heart of a warrior to come back and win. But all this RIP and that crap on his trunks. No need for it.
Cleverly just doesn't do it for me and should still have gone out and done a job on that guy. New Calzaghe? I don't think so.
Think Clev and Bellew have both got a bit ahead of themselves to be honest. Back to drawing board.

I knew he was an awkward fighter going in mate but I haven't seen the fight yet, congrats to him though mate, he might not have boxed well but he won and that's the sign of a good fighter IMHO

with these short buggers it can be so difficult, they take a step inside and they're inside your leverage
clev tends to smother his own work at the best of times.

I think Bellew looks very skinny at the weight...undernourished....should he go up to cruiser?

I'm sure Clev has said he's got the ability to go to war with people and wanted to prove it (after his fight against Murat). I think he needs to avoid doing so, as the fight on Sat proved. Once he makes another step-up, which will be soon, he'll get exposed imo.
He's got the range and speed to box off the back foot. Needs to implement this more.

I hope he does, because despite him being Tony's natural rival, I want him to do well. He seems like a good kid and I appreciate what he did at uni.
Thing is though, he's being touted as a bit of a superstar, but I don't really see one thing he's got in his locker that separates him from the rest (apart from maybe age).

CP and I were surprised at the reception Clev got in Liverpool, dare I say it, bigger/louder than Bellew (although to be fair, the arena had half emptied after the Smith fight and it was after 12am).
He was more than he got in Birmingham and certainly more than at the York Hall.

Maybe he thought you meant R.I.P to your opponents Tony only a real cock would criticise your tribute to your Nan.

Bomber, I noticed RIP NANA on your shorts, but cos I was drunk, I read it RIP ENZO. I thought hey up, Enzo's chinny but that's just plain disrespectful. That's what 10 cans of Kronenburg does to you, lads.

The print on my shorts was as follows R.I.P NAN, ok I can accept dioufy saying he was drunk but that nob dirtsugar telling me was a whole new ball game!! What that clown said was bang out of line and deserves to be more than told so too!! End of for me.....

I don't want to believe DS meant it like that fellas, maybe he just didn't read it right or something. I hope that's the case, can't believe someone would deliberately knock a tribute to a relative. Hopefully it's a misunderstanding and he'll apologise. Sympathies for your loss anyway Tony.

Yeah, I've gotton to "know" Dirt Sugar over the years posting I think he must have read it wrong. To be honest, I was sober on Saturday and I for a few rounds read it as just "RIP". The Nana part sometimes folded up. Not saying any excuses, but hopefully DS will appologise.
