That fight was a Jamie Myers promotion.
Williams is run by Anthony Mundine who is his own promoter. The only fighter that Lewis has beaten who had beaten somebody was 44 year old Bob Gasio.

Thanks for your reply,
I think i now get it. If you have a promoter who lines you up with a fighter with a 0 wins 12 losses record for your 23rd fight thats OK. But if you have Mundine involved and he lines you up with a fighter with a 3 win 4 losses record for your first legitimate fight, then thats a circus.

Most boxers do not promote their own fights. Mundine does. Leapai was matched in a prelim fight with a boxer who had lost to a lot af rated fighters. Leapai had no say in it. As I said, Gasio is the only man Lewis beat who had beaten another fighter. Gasio was at his peak as an amateur at the 1994 Commonwealth Games as a light middleweight. Most of Lewis's opponents were debutants. Carl Webb is a football player who had not fought after a brief amateur career as a teenager. Neither Williams nor Lewis has fought a six rounder and they are being offered to the people of Newcastle as a main event.
As for the money Williams gives to charity, for someone earning as much as he does it is a nice way to get a tax deduction.
Do you think that using the name of a former champion makes you an expert?

Thanks for another reply. Yep i realise most boxers dont promote their own fights. Mundine promotes most of his but not all. I think you will find Leapai V Ta Rangi was not a prelim, if i'm wrong could you tell me who fought the main on that card?. You might consider Leapai having his 23rd bout against a fighter who has never won a fight let alone being stopped 9 times in his only 12 bouts, a good promotion but i do not. As for my username I was going to use something classy like Brute but you beat me to it.

If Williams fancies playing in Europe again he should look at a London club. That way he can focus on his boxing career too, on a more realistic level.
Plenty of young English heavyweights in London right now...sure they could always do with another spit bucket carrier!
Good luck to him though. He can't fight a jot, infact I would not even back him in a punch up against some of his all black team mates, but he seems like a really nice chap. Monster of a centre that's for sure!

It was a club promotion. Two four rounders and a six rounder, no main event. Hearns had a glass jaw too. My nickname came from my time as a Policeman. Everybody at the station had a nickname and mine was better than some that you could not print here.

Gee Mate I think your splitting hairs there. I'm pretty sure most of the patrons would have thought the Leapai fight would have been the " main'' fight.
Please dont disrespect my favourite fighter Tommy. I believe you are a lot better than that.
Just off topic. May i ask where you were mainly stationed. I used to have a quiet drink with Bob Godden when he was living in Pt. Macquarie. He was a mad KT fan and we spent a lot of time debateing different fighters.
I got to know a few policeman when i was a lot younger, unfortunately i was always on the wrong side of the desk.

these people are kidding. i thought id ring to see how much a ticket is to go and support scott. they vary from 500 to 70.
if this is the case which im sure it is a s i spoke to tikitek direct i hope the undercard features vic, katsidis, green and a comeback from either lionel rose or johnny famachon.. what a joke do they really think we will pay for this

you never know...SBW may end up fighting another gorilla from the Auckland Zoo, in case there are late complications....

there wiont be any late changes this fight will happen for sure. scott has a big chance if fit but i know he has been injured lately, probably why they picked him as an opponent.
i dont mind the fight happening its just the cost of it is out of control unless its an awesome undercard.

would be good to see some good cards. fox look like they will be hit and miss again already. the jamie myer card looks ordinary but then barry michael and brians card looks great.
so hopefully we can get some more good ones.
having spoken to a few promoters in vic i know there will be some good fights on, they just wont bo on fox

Why doesn't someone set up an internet site and stream the shows for a fee say $9.95 a month for 4 cards, Farken Fox have no idea how to manage any televised boxing shows, agree about the current line up hope it's just a warm up for some very decent cards next year.
the best Fox card of 2010 was this.
Le Montage, Lilyfield, New South Wales, Australia
Jamie Pittman L Joseph Kwadjo KO 7 12
Michael Bolling W Victor Oganov TKO 8 10
Billy Dib W Reynaldo Belandres KO 6 8
Dominic Vea L Anthony McCracken SD 8 8
Ranee Ganoy W Decha Kokietgym KO 2 6
Steve Casserley W David Wiremu UD 4 4
What a card, something like this again would be good.

I think what you mean is what is the main event going to be? This should be on the undercard.

manny pacquaio would have to be on the undercard to make it worth it.
it is disrespectful to sporting fans to even think about charging money for this circus.
actually that is unfair to the circus to link the two.

surely this isnt going to be on PPV??????
if this is mundines "Retirement Plan" i think he is in some serious trouble.
if it is on PPV i would like to see a report on sales after the event. would be lucky to do a few thousand i would imagine.
