I agree that Youssef is better than his record suggests but I don't see anyone dominating this, that's why it'd be so good!! they've all been in with good good fighters over the years & all learned alot, I think Nesbitt would be in with a shout he can really punch when he let's his hands go!! & obviously my main pick would be Johnny Greaves!! heart of a lion that one!!

Sincerely- that would be interesting and would lead to a bit of glory and money for true gents of the sport. I've fought both Kristian and Carl Allen also Baz Carey beat me (!!) and the line between winning and losing mentality in boxing is a very thin one. I think it would be a great little show- they'd make a shitload of money on the betting and it would get tons of press. Youssef is a class boxer when hewants to be and I do think he is a level above the likes of Greaves and Allen now - but that said it might prove very interesting and give some guys a night that they'll never forget.

Sky i'd rather watch this then the shit (no disrespect intended- to the fighters) you've served us on box office over the last couple of months.

Looking at the list put up by Frank as possibles for the journeyman Prizefighter, it looks very even and certain to provide top entertainment, unlike the recent prizefighters with the exception of the Super Feathers, where there's always been a couple of standout names this one lists 8 fighters ALL with possiblities of winning it.
So come on Sky, gives these boys the chance they deserve, and give the paying public one of the best nights of boxing they've seen in recent years.
For me I'd love to see Robin Deakin or Johnny Greaves win, top pros and two great fellers as well, and like the other six boys on the "list" much much better than their records suggest.

Prizefighter format hasn't been patented as far as im aware so there's nothing stopping another promoter doing one. Maybe ESPN/Premier Sports/Eurosport and Channel 5 might pick up a one off???? It doesn't have to be 32k for the winner i'm sure 10-15k would attract plenty. Channel 5 show enough low standard football so why not cover something that has a proven viewing audience....

I wouldnt watch it on telly id actually go to watch this live. Very good idea. Journeymen deserve a night in the limelight imo

They could actually make the final an English title shot - or certainly a Masters belt as any pro can fight for them.

Trouble is a title shot is ten rounds unless the masters was prepared to do a prizefighter special of three rounds which iv no doubt they would if there was a sanctioning fee

I thought it would be good to make a prize fighter sort of like how the French do with their French title, but maybe with a masters title. It would be slightly different cause it would be all in one night (the French cup is over a series of bills) except the final, which would be a Sky Sports headliner, or undercard over 10-12 rounds.

But I think the final would have to be over more rounds and then of course it will not be sanctioned.

Maybe extend the Prizefighter to have 16 fighters...... make the first round off TV (just highlights) - and then leave the final for a 10 rounder say in a months time.

I think the journey men could hope for a masters title fight - when you have the quality field such as the Cruiserweight one or the Super Feather then the winner could either fight for the British title, or become mandated.

I think it's a superb idea but it would only really appeal to boxing fans. I dont think casual fans would be too captivated by it? I may be wrong i'd love tae see it happen

Eurosport does do a tournament like that in Cyprus: www.biggersbetterboxing.com 15,000 euros to the winner. Had three shows so far, with a fourth being planned.

It's not much cop, though - most of the guys are novices or even debutants, and not very good ones at that, but it's OK if you like tournament boxing,

Definately doing it in the mid 00's. I can remember a few of them shown n Eurosport.

At the end of the day we're pretty unanimous- this needs to b done- In any case it will be better then the terrible one in Scotland where the concept was virtually destroyed by some comical bias

The average TV fan doesn't know most Prizefighters now to be honest. I bet 1/2 of Sky's audience wouldn't have known half the boxers who have been in Prizefighter in the past. In fact how many would have known these winners other than avid boxing fans:- Patrick Mendy, Prince Arron, Ryan Brawley. I know my mates who are not Boxing nuts just like the format and like a good tear up, they probably wouldn't tell the difference from a British champ to a good experienced pro. As long as their not the novice types (Kahut springs to mind) then they see a pro boxing match for what it is.
It just needs marketing right on a new channel with plenty of publicity, put it on at a 1,000 capacity venue at £25-£30, maybe £50 ringside and it sells out. TV pays £50,000, Ticket sales £30,000 Prizemoney £30,000 I reckon there must be 30-40k profit in there after security, medical and other costs......
Im surprised another promoter in the UK hasn't jumped on the Prizefighter bandwagon already to be honest. Does anyone know the Hearn's well enough to ask if any of the previous PF haven't made a profit???

The other obvious problem is that journeymen generally dont sell many tickets.Could possibly equate to an empty venue come showtime.

I would have thought ALL Prizefighters have made a decent profit,hence it becoming almost a flagship show for Sky's Boxing coverage.They heavily advertise as well and Skybet are always very involved at ringside.Its been a massive success.Getting Audley,Williams and Sprott battling it out for a maximum £32,000 with Mike Tyson doing the draw and moving it to a bigger venue due to demand indicates great promoting.

I'm sure these boys would shift a fair few tickets for an event like this!! plus you get the normal casual fan for prizefighter too!! so defo wouldn't be empty!

Il tell you all. There's already talk among us journeymen. All of us would fight although our lives depended on it. I for one would be extremely up for it. We box week in week out with no notice. To be given a platform to shine on a level playing field is a dream for us all. We just do enough on short notice to perform the week after. We are all good fighters , and a prizefighter format would bring the best from is all. By the way , there's plenty of pride among us to make it s great watch. If alowed my money is on me, lol
