I just want to say that when I started this thread it wasnt about frankie having the boxing skill and talent because he's clearly got that but it was about whether he's quick enough to compete with really quick guys like your khans,bradleys,alexanders,etc and also whether he's got the power needed to keep pressure fighters off of him and make them have second thoughts to keep coming at him.

ok sorry for going off topic a little, so frankies hands might not be lightning or his power destructive, but great footwork, a great boxing brain, fantasic accuracy, a good chin, a heart of a lion, and more importantly a desire to reach the top will take him to world glory, plus his powers going to improve, i agree with someone earlier that a trip to america for sparring or even learning more training techniques will do frankie the world of good, maybe even try to get him on a vegas undercard.
i look forward to watching him develope more and more in the coming years. and lastly any pressure fighter who thinks they can walk through him will be stung time and time again by fast accurate counters.

I think Gavin has enough talent to give away, his bigger issues will be with weight, committment and training

I'd get him in with Dean Harrison still, providing he wins that and wins well I wouldn't hesitate to put him in with the winner of Daws/Theophane.

I think he'll be a world champion within 3 years.

since his been pro i dont think his had issues with weight, he trains like a mad man, and frankie wrote on here himself saying why does everyway question his committment. i personally believe the only thing that might piss gavin off and hold him up is boxing politics and not fighting often enough, but his got arnie to keep him calm and its a team event in training.

Timing and skill can neutralise speed. Look at Juan Manuel Marquez.

I think the power thing could be more important. We won't know unless Gavin fights a top level pressure fighter like Maidana.

He's got a great set up with Arnie and the other lads. I can't see him fvcking that up. He appears to be enjoying himself.

couldent agree more, did anyone see gavin v kindelan in the amateurs ? he took 1 serious big shot flush on the chin from kindelan, and although he lost the fight it was close but what impressed me most was how composed frankie stayed.

This year Frankie will come into his own and win the British & euro titles imo, huge credit to ARNIE who has done an excellent job with Frankie since he's turned pro and id like to wish them well in the coming years.top boys! im sure theres scottish there somewhere lol

Frankie has the all round ability to win world titles - I am convinced of that.

His success in the vest shows the level of boxing ability he has. Look at some of the other fightters from Britain who have done well at the worlds in recent times - Froch and Haye. I am confident that he can mirror their respective achivements in the pro game.

The one thing that would worry me slightly is marking up/cuts - his defence is good enough to avoid most of the damage but it is when heads come together that he is most at risk IMO.

C'mon Frankie - lets see you bring pro world titles home to Brum

I really rate Frankie, and I'm sure he's got the tools to be World Champ though I'd agree its unlikely that he will become a KO artist

Frankie has enough power and speed to make it, as the old saying goes its the punches you don't see that hurt, and Frankie has the skills to land 2 or 3 that his opponent doesn't see coming.

As long as he keeps his feet on the ground and listens to the right people, then he can make it.

Wow. Not so long ago 90% of the forum was convinced Frankie had a first-class seat en-route to the big time and De Gale was just a mouth piece. Frankie pulls out of a fight, and De Gale has a great performance and suddenly it’s all change. I have always tipped De Gale as a prospect, previously posting on here that he would beat Groves, Smith, and win a world title. I haven't seen anything to change my mind on that score.

But crucially, I haven't seen anything to change my mind on Frankie either. The comments about dedication and power are interesting. These are the two areas of his amateur career which I thought would be the most challenging for him to adapt, but his power improved from his first pro fight.

I don't know enough about Frankie’s personal life to judge his dedication but he's looked in great shape to me come each fight night. Negative comments on his dedication generally seem a little empty as they tend to be based on the fact that about three years ago he had outgrown a weight division he qualified for about five years ago.

Hurlock hit the nail on the head when he identified Gavin's brain, timing, and movement as the strengths that will keep off the speed merchants. I have never seen a better British prospect in my lifetime in terms of footwork, and that goes back to his pre-world title amateur career. He reads a fight very well, and as KingGeedorah points out, is incredibly accurate and doesn’t waste a lot and clearly enjoys being in there.

However good the division in which he operates in, I'm convinced Frankie will spend most of a successful career in the upper echelons of world level. As for British level, I'd race him into a fight with the winner of Daws/Theophane, but I'd guess that they wouldn't be quite so keen.
