Just said to me mate that if Katsidis was a little bigger then it would be an amazing contest, but I agree, the Kat is too small.
I agree with this, but surely this is exactly why the Khan camp might consider him as a name with some credibility for the record (not to mention Golden Boy connections) the same way they did with Barrera and the same way they seem to be with Juan Manuel.

He's a strong lad though and could definitely give Amir something to think about and even hurt him although there's no doubt Khan's superior speed and size would win the day eventually.

Bolton star Amir Khan defends his WBA light-welterweight title against decent American Lamont Peterson in this country on April 16.
Khan appears here for the first time since December 2009 when he blasted Dmitriy Salita in 76 seconds in Newcastle, dropping Salita three times, after which he proved his chin and his mettle with a bruising victory over Argentine puncher and mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana in the States. Trained by Freddie Roach out of Los Angeles, Khan finally silenced the doubters as he stood up to Maidana's bombs for 12 rounds on the way to a unanimous decision in Las Vegas. It ranks as one of the greatest displays ever given by a British fighter abroad. It was the third defence of the title Khan won with a unanimous decision over Ukraine's Andreas Kotelnik in Manchester in the summer of 2009.
Peterson, 26, is the older brother of lightweight Anthony and holds a fine win over former world amateur champion Willy Blain, a previously unbeaten Frenchman whom he stopped in seven rounds in Puerto Rico in April 2009; otherwise, you look at Peterson's wins and nobody shouts out. Don't get me wrong, Peterson has lost only to Tim Bradley in 30 fights and is certainly no Salita, the hapless New Yorker who was down within 10 seconds of the opening bell against Khan.
Peterson, a big, willing man from Memphis, goes forward and works hard, particularly to the body, but he is not a massive puncher and (ironically) he looks a bit chinny. He was down twice against Victor Ortiz (Khan's stablemate) on the Khan-Maidana bill last time out, battling back to salvage a 10-round draw, and was also down against Bradley in a crack at Bradley's WBO light-welterweight title in California in December 2009 which he lost widely on the cards. Bradley seemd to jar him ever time he landed cleanly.
Nevertheless, Peterson has never been stopped at 28-1-1 (14) and looks the perfect challenger for Khan's homecoming Khan - good enough and brave enough to give Khan a fight but not good enough to beat him. Moreover, if Khan were to force a stoppage, it would make him look very good alongside rival champ Bradley.

When you march straight forward and your defense is very permeable, you're going to get busted up against Khan---especially if you are the significantly smaller man. Of course Katsidis is a strong guy, but I think Khan would use his size, speed, and skill advantages to stay on the outside and avoid trouble for the most part. I think Katsidis would get worn down and stopped late.
See you'd think this is exactly what would happen, thats how I saw the Maidana fight, but thats not how it panned out! Khan is getting alot of credit for his last fight but am I the only one who is alarmed by the ease with which a crude, clumsy opponent walked him down and unloaded time after time? What we had confirmed is that Khan is not the master boxer some claim. His defence is leaky and he was fortunate to catch Maidana's biggest punches high on his head rather than bang on the chin. We'll see him on the canvas again imo. Its at least arguable that Katsidis is as good as Maidana. Katsidis's defeats have come against the elite. I also dont understand the raving about Khan's conditioning- he was exhausted in the late stages of the fight and Maidana was the fresher fighter.

loss and a draw are now good enough to secure world title fights?

I think the Maidana fight really took alot out of Khan and i agree he did not look like a master boxer. Maidana was able to walk him down easily. There's no doubt he'll end up on the canvas again but as long as he dont stay there that's the main thing.

Personaly , i think at some stage Kasidas lands the left hook on Khans chin and its goodnight, just cannot see Khan keeping the little bulldog off him all night.. Me thinks RoacH knows it too , because that would be a BIG money fight in the UK

Thing is though mate, katsidis is a light weight, khan is a big light welter. Khan is going to be alot stronger and no way does katsidis punch as hard as maidana.

But khan did say when co presenting the bradley v alexander fight that katsidis was getting approached for the april 16th fight possibly today!!! He also said the peterson fight wasnt going ahead.

I think this is a tougher fight for Khan than people think, In my opinion Katsidis has improved from the one-dimensional slugger he once was I think he is good at cutting of the ring, he throws fast combinations which are usually accurate, his power speaks for itself and his stamina Is second to none. I see Khan winning the early rounds with his jab and movement before Katsidis catches up with him in the middle rounds cutting off the ring cornering Khan letting loose with fast, hard combo's. But Khan coming back to win a clear but very competitive decision.
