I expect it would cost £7500-£10000? to get this kind of opposition at heavy for an Olympian on a televised show as a supporting bout?
as little as that ??? id have thought it would be twice that but of course im not in the know , no wonder they dont want to fight him if theres a risk of them getting beat for such money , its a business and of course means the money has to be right so frank might have to go fishing around europe for someone with a good record but softly matched , they might be more tempted by the money , i get the impression british fighters tend to cost more than their european counterparts in general
how about Mazykin
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
i reckon hed be an ideal opponent , been in with some descent guys but lost to them all , no pushover but someone id expect a guy like price to deal with , and id have thought hed take lower cash than the top brits , he won the biggers better tournament recently , beating britains Lee kellet along the way .
Obviously this is all speculation but what i would say is economically if he is paying his opponent 10k he must be paying price at least 15k so thats 25k spent on a supporting bout depending on what the main event is i guess thats going to cost another 30-35k possibly more. SO thats 60k for 2 bouts. If you add in another 5 bout thats another 10 fighters on average say 3k each thats 90k before venue security ring costs hotels train tickets etcetc i dont know how much sky pay for a show but even adding ticket revenue that sort of projection leaves Maloney only making only about 10k or so so i cant see how a much bigger figure than that is feasable.
Its all speculation on my part any i may be way off but thats my view of things

FTM needs to be knocking on the BBBofC's door to order some eliminators. We've got quite a few prospects coming through at the same time who should be on collision course by the time they are ready to box for the British title. Add to the list some of the heavyweights who will always be domestic level and there are plenty of fights to be made.
2011 and 2012 should be a good time for the British heavyweight scene.

Maloney ought to have been moving Price on way earlier instead of having him in with pregnant opponents and stiffs that shouldn't have had a licence to box here.
Fury has had 12/13 fights and already has wins over several half decent domestic opponents, including two over McDermott and a shut out win over a good journeyman in Zack Page.
Does he really think that nobody wants to fight an Olympic medallist? Obviously I can't speak for the fighters but surely they ought to be chomping at the bit, especially given the lack of a decent test so far.
Price is the best heavy in uk,bar haye
Based on??
Tony Booth would be undefeated against Price's opposition so far, it's been that bad.

Oh that's true of course...... but it's not been good enough.
Eight fights and not a single good opponent yet.... with the possible exception of Daniel Peret.
DeGale has had nine in a division of similar quality and has the British title, with wins over King, Horton, Dilks and a dominant stoppage over a solid champion in Smith.

Have to agree with this look at how Warren brings a prospect along Butlin would be a good fight for Price at this juncture what about Lee Swaby? these would be better opponents they might not be that step up into domestic class that we might hope for they are better opponents than the imported opposition. He has let them fight Dallas so why not Price?

Price isn't with Warren. The lack of better opposition is what I think this thread is all about.

Yes i'm aware he isn't with Warren the point is he hasnt fought one decent opponent under Maloney the best is Peret. At the very least he needs to be fighting top domestic journeymen rather than the imports that the point i am making. Under Maloney he has fought one domestic opponent.
The point is people like Butlin are a step up from the Eastern European imports the point is i dont believe that Price an Olympic medallist is being avoided and if he is its because its a case of the "who needs him" club and it is Maloneys job to put him in a position where he cant be avoided he should be mandatory for the English title ready for eliminators but because he hasnt even been fighting top journeymen he isnt in that position.

I'd be very surprised if nobody wanted to fight him.
Surely people would be wanting to knock over the Olympic medallist.....

Kubrat Pulev is 10-0 , 5 Ko's and has fought Skelton, Guinn, Vidoz
Robert Helenius 14-0, 9 ko's and has fought Gammer, Bydenko, Brewster, Tony, Levin
How come they are getting opponents , but everyone is supposedly petrified to get in the ring with our heavies?

I'm pretty sure everyones trying to play the "avoided" card right now. We have a decent set of heavy's at this level, and a couple of matchups could really ignite the division.....it's not as if a loss is going to be that damaging. Price does need to step it up bigtime, orr his talents will stagnate.

yeah no suprise he left that bit out.
Ive got a feeling he's trying to hype up Price by saying noone wants to fight him. I reckon most of the names maloney mentioned would take the fight with fair notice - the money would be good, it would be good exposure and the winner would be considered one of the top domestic heavyweights after chisora and obviously haye.

How about matching him with Tom Dallas? They're both with the same promotional outfit.

I'd say it would be worth investing the money in fighting an american vet- purely so Frank M can set himself apart from the other promoters in the UK. If he were to put him in with someone like Ray Austin or similar its a bill topper that would be winnable and would force the other promoters to raise their game. Warrens produced a masterstroke really to get Chisora to challenge for the world heavyweight title against a notably brittle champion- its not like he is completely without a chance and irrespective of his likely loss he's going to gain massive kudos for giving it a go.
Frank Maloneys track record with Heavies is unmayched in the UK and having spoke to him several times- he genuinely wants to make the best matches he can but expense and willingness of the opposition seems to be a real hurdle at the moment.

On the results so far I can only see one winner if Fury and Price were matched in 2011...and that's Fury, most likely by stoppage.

I'll have to disagree there, Fury will struggle against someone with a bigger reach and good technical base. Price would force him into his shell

Price would Ko Fury no problem.
but as for Price's long term future...
as soon as he steps into B class he'll get stopped Camerelle-style

i agree with this. You're talking an athlete versus the Stay Puff marshmallow man here. And Stay Puff wouldn't even have a punchers chance.

Disagree with you there NEBF , on paper Wlad is a huge favourite but history has taught us that in the Heavyweight division nothing can be taken for granted , one punch can end it all , and quite often the underdog doesnt read the script and upsets the party , whilst i wouldnt put any money on Del Boy id at least hope he will try to catch him on the chin early to see if he holds up .

Listening to Buncey on the radio last night and Mick Helliet was saying that Maloney was offered Frans Botha but turned it down.
I know Botha is past his best but I'm sure that Price would have got more from a Botha than all his pro fights put together so far.
