I have paid more than the cost of a decent hatchback for a ticket to see a single fight and I won't be paying £15 for this fight.

So your argument doesn't hold water.

you couldent park at the m.e.n for that price or buy 4 pints inside for that matter, no excuses, i cant even believe your on this site in the first place.
If you want to pay this much to watch mismatches, then I think that says a lot about you and your knowledge of boxing.

It certainly is a mismatch.

The only way I'll be paying is if there's a great undercard and/or they link it to another card in the U.S. or something...

people on here scream and shout about the best in the country fighting each other and when they finally meet nobody wants to watch them !
fly around the world watching boxing ? would that involve ricky hatton by any chance ?
and as for matey saying £15 is alot of money for some people, i understand, i havent got much myself but the sort of people who say that, spend £15 a day on cigarettes and alcohol.......
and i assume your refering to chisora's fight as the mismatch, well do you know what his a british man whos fighting for a heavy weight world title, i hope you all dont subscribe and he causes a big upset in a great match, dont let harrison put you off for life.

ha ha, well stay at home spend 15 on booze and 15 on the fight, its still a cheap saturday night for this day in age, you never know Mccloskey might spark him, but if you dont watch it enjoy "take me out" on itv at 8.30pm !

PPV was initially only for the big fights. A way to bankroll and sweeten the deal to get a must see fight happen..

Well ...

Nobody is hiding the fact that this is a gimmee fight for Khan before the big one in July.

So why PPV?
Greed??

And Jessi, I'm not the type of person to spend £15 on beer and fags. I go out once a week and I wouldn't give that up to watch Khan steam-roll McCloskey. The fact is, even if I was well-off, I wouldn't line Khan's pockets unless he's in a massive fight, which this time he isn't.

I've been to many a fight abroad and also pay to go to fights in this country at least once a month but i won't be paying to go to this or for the PPV. It's not a superfight and therefore should not be ppv.

I'll keep my money for something better

I don't think it's a mismatch. Khan is the better fighter but it will be a fight.

I agree, I expect Khan to win, but at least will be made to work for it. Remember the manditory Salita a few fights back at least McKloskey will put up a fight.

I agree with you on this,Mccloskey is the undefeated european champion and he has skills, khan is definietly likely to win but i dont see the whole mismatch thing myself!Khan vs fagan and khan vs barrera were mismatches! This isnt in my opinion and anyway when in this day and age except from the bradley vs alexander fight and so forth do you see 50/50 fights anymore?!You dont

McCloskey doesn't stand a chance, you can't hold your hands that low with such a poor defence and not get stopped against Khan. McCloskey throws single shots and Khan will be too quick in and out t get caught. I hope for his own sake its get stopped early, otherwise a brutal 12 round drubbing is on the cards.

To beat Khan you need to pressurise and harass him. McCloskey simply does not throw enough shots to stand a chance.

ok sorry, although i agree the fights not massive, i dont think its a mismatch, i still beleive every ppv sky have shown in the past 20 years has been pretty good value except haye v harrison !
what about the chisora fight will you pay for that ?

Perhaps I was harsh on Paul McCloskey yesterday. My reaction was 'ho-hum' when the burly southpaw from Dungiven in Northern Ireland who trains out of John Breen's Belfast gym was finally confirmed as Amir Khan's opponent on April 16 in Manchester, after a host of other names were rejected (and McCloskey himself, initially).
McCloskey challenges Khan for the WBA light-welterweight title, having exploded on to the domestic scene in Dagenham in December 2008 with an upset nine-round stoppage of hometown hero Colin Lynes. It was a stunning display from the slippery yet aggressive McCloskey, at remarkably late notice, and McCloskey has since proved it was no fluke with four straight stoppages to extend his unbeaten record to an impressive 22-0 (12) and to gatecrash the world rankings at the age of 31.
McCloskey is seven years older than Khan, a man with a man's strength and a man's strength of mind. I like his cuteness, his ability to uncork a big shot when least expected. Iran Barkley had that rare knack and it enabled "The Blade" to wobble Roberto Duran in the eighth round of their 1989 classic in Atlantic City and to spark Tommy Hearns a year earlier. Make no mistake about it, McCloskey can hurt you on the sly and he can hurt Khan, a man with a weak chin but a huge heart, which supported his chin through a 12-round war with Argentina's big-hitting Marcos Maidana in December in Las Vegas en route to a unanimous decision.
It was a win that erased the stigma of Khan's embarrassing 54-second defeat to Breidis Prescott in Manchester September 2008, since when Khan has won six on the spin over men of the calibre of Andreas Kotelnik and Marco Antonio Barrera, but you had to enjoy the way Khan swapped big punches with the vaunted Maidana and came through.
McCloskey will also make a fight of it in April with his slick, dangerous style. Khan last fought a southpaw in 2007, the overawed Stefy Bull, and will probably need a few rounds to figure out McCloskey, whipping in the body shots as he does so and shrugging off the occasional big counter.
Using his speed of hand and foot, Khan outboxes and outpoints the gutsy challenger.

No,Sugar Ray Leonard,Tommy Hearns, and Evander Holyfield actually, and no i don't drink or smoke just work hard for my wages,i would call myself a true boxing fan having spent thousands of pounds over the years following my heroes, now of course i'm much older with two sons and money is tight,so i spend it on what i think is value for money, khan vs mccloskey to me is not value and i won't be convinced otherwise.

Firstly, thanks for the sorry. Secondly, I never called it a mismatch, but I think Khan will eventually break him down to stop him in about 10 rounds. Thirdly, and lastly, I was going to buy the Chisora fight up until it was called off. I won't, however, buy it if it's just the Germany bill - there must be more; perhaps the Khan fight?

Then I'll buy it happily.

I quite like the fight. At the end of the day McCloskey is the euro champ and well ranked by 2 world bodies. It's just not PPV, SKy stop ripping off UK boxing fans, this fight is never PPV and I won't be paying extra for it out of principle. WIll watch a stream and if the stream is crap or fails I won't be crying too much.

As for a prediction I don't think McCloskey is THAT over-matched, as others have said it's a step up in level, but one that he deserves. I don't think he will be blown away quick as he has a decent chin, he will be troubled by Khan's speed but I think it will take to the mid-late rounds for him to get worn down.
