Im not disagreeing with you,i just said there needs to be consistency. With a guilty plea and mitigation i bet his barristers were telling him to prepare for about 4 years.bengulnaci1 wrote:Mate, he half blinded the guy. If he had done something similar in the past he would have got an indeterminate sentence.More likely backroom chat that got him the top end of the scale.Very powerful places those crown courts...The Dark Destroyer wrote:Must be previous involved.mickey1975 wrote:Im not disagreeing with you,i just said there needs to be consistency. With a guilty plea and mitigation i bet his barristers were telling him to prepare for about 4 years.bengulnaci1 wrote: Mate, he half blinded the guy. Certainly no consistency http://tinyurl.com/6x4k7yz
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
I would tend to agree. My uncle got murdered in an unprovoked attack that was classified first degree murder.... His murderer was out in less than 8 years.
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
I think we can all agree that there is inconsistency. But lets be glad that this scumbag is off the streets for a few years at least. Should have been more in my opinion! And the judge should've taken him up on his offer of losing his eye!
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
I wasn't at all surprised to read this. I saw John Fury calling out someone in the crowd while Tyson Fury was fighting John McDermott. It was ridiculous. After the fight the Fury lot went after some people.
I'm very glad he has been put away.

The whole im an honourable man bit made me laugh, if that was the case why didnt he have a straightner i was under the impression that is legal and honourable. Not tearing someones eye out of his head at a car sale.
Nice to see people dont just stand by and watch though. (note: sarcasm)
mind you, we dont know the circumstances, the other fella might have been a scummer too.

i dont think they saw eye to eye.
my bad, it's disgusting an animalistic what he done. he's an ex fighter & resorted to these vile tactics :!: he's disgraced himself & his family & should keep his hands to himself.
11 is lengthy but he should serve atleast 6.

Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
How the hell is 11 years excessive?? I can't think of a much worse case of GBH than this and the maximum penalty for GBH with intent (which this clearly was) is life imprisonment. Not only did the guy blind the poor bloke in one eye but also tried to blind him in the other eye also. 11 years is the very least he deserved in my view. Maybe the arrogant arsehole wasn't be thinking he's the toughest man in the UK when he was pleading and begging the judge to let him off. Pathetic!Tommy Gunn13 wrote:The dad u to always make me gringe when he was interviewd on itv4,saying his son is the BEST EVER etc...

i think it's good that publications like BM actually look for STORIES within the game, rather than just writing about Amir f*cking Khan every month.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:i think you might have got that from the Boxing Monthly....if it wasn't then perhaps BN. Cos I read the same article. I think these magazines give too much coverage to what I consider very mediocre fighters. I've never rated Fury as a fighter, even less as an athlete. This month I believe BM have given a 2 page spread to Richard Towers on account of the fact he's 6 foot 8, he went to prison for doing heinous things and now he's a reformed 8 fight novice (I couldn't give a sh*t......come and tell me when he's had a fight!) Novelty-value in a sh*t division. I say that without wanting to disparage the boxer, the writer or the publication (which I enjoy), just my opinion.bengulnaci1 wrote: He has 6 sons or something who love voilence and if you start on him, they will go for you and blah blah blah.......read him say this type of stuff often.

Good job he got 11 years. Nasty piece of work.
Toughest man in the country? He'll find out how tough he is when he gets inside I reckon. His sons can't come to his aid in there if he gets kicked in, and I'd imagine there's some pretty hard c***s in Manchester prison...

well said m8 im sick of boxers trying to get a rep of things they ve done in the past ,this ones been to jail this ones done that, who gis a monkeys most boxers are hard cases thats how they get involved in the sport i know one boxer who has been stabbed, shot at, loads of other stuff but doesnt go around bragging about it, real men dont say shit about stuff like that.
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
I think in cases like these an example needs to be made. If Fury would have got off with a 3 or 4 year sentence then you can be sure that this would have acted as a licence for other brainless morons (both in the gypsy community and outside it) to try the same thing. Whether the sentence acts as a deterrant to others is a topic to be debated in its won right but what it does do is show that a very dim view will be taken in cases like these by the courts.
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
That was my initial thought but to be honest mate, we dont know his previous and the victim has been left with a severe life-long disability. Plus the sentencing would be largely governed by similiar previous cases.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:The dad u to always make me gringe when he was interviewd on itv4,saying his son is the BEST EVER etc...

You can get more than 11 years for VAT fraud.liamlion wrote:That was my initial thought but to be honest mate, we dont know his previous and the victim has been left with a severe life-long disability. Maybe he was trying to summon 'the eye of the tiger' for his son?

what's that got to do with it (TAX) i'd like to know what tax you paidMachoMan09 wrote:Lots of traveller men have nothing but their 'honour'. The tax payer will now have to keep John Fury for the better part of a decade. I'd be interested to know how much he has paid in tax over the years.
Re: Tyson Fury's Dad jailed for 11 years!!!
I think he's saying that he's put nothing into the economy, yet taxpayers have to cover the insane costs of keeping him behind bars for 11 (or 5) years.1southpaw wrote:what's that got to do with it (TAX) i'd like to know what tax you paid

The piece I did on Towers was all about how he thought a lifestyle of crime was the completely wrong choice and how dignity is found in plain old hard work and the redemptive powers of the best sport in the world.the truth wrote:well said m8 im sick of boxers trying to get a rep of things they ve done in the past ,this ones been to jail this ones done that, who gis a monkeys most boxers are hard cases thats how they get involved in the sport i know one boxer who has been stabbed, shot at, loads of other stuff but doesnt go around bragging about it, real men dont say shit about stuff like that.
But you're right - when it's the old braggadocio nonsense, they can f**k right off.
