I think to an extent yes. If we take Price as an example, he was a world class amateur and has been used to fighting guys leagues above what he has faced in the pro ranks. In my opinion, apart from the guy that serioulsy buzzed him in his debut, he has faced no-one that has posed even the slightest of danger.I'm sure Maloney wants to keep promoting the unbeaten, Olympic prospect that's going to take the world by storm, but Price isn't even being given a chance to improve his stamina with these easy knock overs whose only ambition is to pick their wages up at the end of the night.

Now I know Maloney says he can't get other guys to fight Price, but what I think he is actually saying is I can't get guys to fight Price for the money I'm offering or the notice I'm giving. But, what is Price learning in these fights? He himself says he's learning way more in sparring than in these easy fights. If that's the case, surely he needs to be in with much better guys to put what he's learning in to practise in a competitive situation? These guys that are falling over from a tap on the chin will end up stunting his progression imo if he's continually fed such a poor diet.

I think for promoters to make more money from their prospects in the long run means they will have to put their hands in their pockets and get better quality opposition in the short term so the prospects learn in more competitive situations.

I really hate that "I fought and you haven't" attitude. Are you saying that people who HAVEN'T fought don't have valid opinions? If so, then come out and say it instead of hiding behind a smokescreen, shitty response. I have boxed but I would NEVER discredit someone's opinion because they haven't.

I'm not really happy with this 'bums' thing lefty.

There are boxers of different abilities, talents, schooling and fitness.

I don't think that anyone who applies themselves and makes a few quid in a very difficult and dangerous way (for our entertainment) should be called a bum.

Also; it is absolute cartoon thinking to think that achieving a British Title is of little achievement. The Lonsdale Belt is highly prized; there have been lots of fantastic boxers who have tried for the British Title and never got there.

Anyone can be a fan and have a point of view and criticise but there aren't many who have the extra in them to do something. Even if they aren't masters of their craft they deserve respect (even when we don't agree with them).

No you're right,its unfair of me to call them bums i completely agree with that.Its wrong of me to do that but to be honest i hear boxers referring to other boxers like that and ive heard steve bunce talking about bums,etc so thats why i use the term.I agree though its unfair and il word it differently from now on.As for achieving thr british title being no small feat i agree and i was only being rude after edwardo initially made a rude comment saying i was talking shite.If you dont like getting abuse then dont dish it out in the first place.What i said in the title of this thread i believe in,theres so many fighters who just fight guy after guy who's little more than a human punchbag.What do they learn from that?!Absolutely nothing and then when they step up in competiton they dont know whats hit them half of the time.

well you must be saying that everyone who posts more than once or twice a day has no 'mate' as you put its even though mate is singular but you've obviously taken alot of blows to the head so il let you off!The reason why i big frankie up is because he is a genuinely quality boxer which shows by the fact that he won at world championship in the amateurs.I like people who have great boxing brains unfortunately alot of british boxers dont possess that thus why they rarely achieve the top honours as amateurs.

Hey il admit when im wrong and i was wrong about the bums comment,i should of worded it better but as for me rubbing people the wrong way well if you have an opinion that people dont agree with that happens quite alot but in terms of me being rude i only am i when someone makes an offensive comment first.

Well I knew the fight game before I turned, if you don't sell a ticket you only get jobs against home ticket sellers & prospects promotors don't mind paying some money out for future returns. I'm a good opponent who gives boys a test yet am classed a bum. I like journeyman but bum is stronging it. I ain't no bum!

Like i said i was wrong,it depends on the individual boxer because some like yourself have been in constantly with up and comers so of course your record isnt gonna be the best in those circumstances.

This goes into one of my other posts, I really think a journeyman & a bum are two completely different things. On the frank malony thread people were slagging these boys that go over soon as they take one clean shot. Imo they are the ones that run the risk of being called a bum. A journeyman boxes every other week against up & coming boxers still holding their o, maybe I have rose tinted glasses on but a genuine journeyman brings much to our sport . I only really post on things I think I can talk about with an in depth knowledge , & when it comes to this subject I forgot more than most know

You're right there pal.

Journeyman used to be a label of pride. A person would learn a trade and be able to travel the country and work and earn a crust wherever they landed.

There were journeyman joiners or brickies etc.

There are some that box from desperation of finding another way to earn a few quid. Lots of them are unskilled but tough and box under an assumed name.

There are also boxers who have skills and experience and know what it is to box. They are not quite good enough or skilled or strong enough to get toward the top of the pack. There needs to be a few things in their favour to do that; but they can, and will fight well, in front of a crowd.

Anyone can fight just like anyone can shag. Fighting and shagging in front of lights and a crowd separate the pro boxers and porn stars from the rest of us (and about 6 inches )

Labelling everyone with a losing record a bum is plain wrong; lefty has apologised already for it.

There ought to be a recognition that there are different levels of journeymen; like in the amateurs. Some journeymen boxers can be relied on to box just about anyone in reason and give a good show, not being funny but some couldn't brush my wifes hair; they shouldn't be boxing.

Johnny your a good journeymen,whos well known in the boxing circles(people who follow the game) i dont mean to speak out of turn,but why dont you say to yourself f*ck this im go give it me best&all&see what i can do in a year&see where you get mate?..Im sure if you put all in you will beat many who have beat you...
