Yeah he was very good. I don't think it was as one sided as the sky team or the judges made out though, I had it 116/114 Hatton. couple of even rounds and Tackie did win a handful.

116-114 thats ludicrous i think tackie won 2 rds at the most no way was it anywhere near as close as that :x

Fantastic performance by the Hitman tonight, he was sizzling. I feared that he would lose concentration at one stage - he didn't he was focused and razor sharp throughout. It has been a real good year for the fighter who gets my vote for boxer of the year. First Phillips now Tackie and he dominated both of them.

Tackie is made of steel, he didn't look close to getting stopped, which is a slight worry cause as Watt implied nobody has hit Tackie with that many "power" shots. Tszyu mainly used flicker jabs, Hatton was drilling the shots without really hurting him. But, I can't put a dampner on this display (nor would I want to) he's was punch perfect.

There are still more sterner tests not many, and I do believe the Weiss or Urkal (the other names mentioned) would maybe ask a few questions. But I won't back against Hatton on anyone, barring Tszyu for the moment, Gatti (who I think would beat Tszyu) and Cotto. Again, I don't want to sound negative on this brilliant night - just put this in perspective, although I've always believed Hatton belongs in the upper echelon in this electric devision I would have always backed the likes of Harries, Mitchell, Corely, Judah, Urkal and a few others to beat him - not anymore. That includes Witter, cause Hatton showed a cast iron chin.

This has also done the careers of Vince Phillips and Eamonn Magee the world of good, as both gave Hatton a much tougher fight than Tackie, is is rightly protrayed as being still world class. I would love to see Phillips vs Tackie (I think Phillips would win). My comments that Eamonn should focus on proper world titles at Welter don't sound so inrealistic now.

Well done Hatton, you really did outclass (now wait for this one McCoy) "Ben Tackie fried chicken" - punch perfect, although I think a good body puncher could give him problems, there were a few times that he winced (ala vs Rowland).

I have the feeling we might see an easier one in April before a summer showdown with Mitchell - which would be great. I can't see Mitchell beating Tszyu mind, so hopefully a December match for a geniune belt will be fantastic. Its achievable.

You can think I'm a fool if you want, all I'm saying is the margins on the official cards were too wide. Tackie won some rounds, and he hurt Hatton in the 11th which nobody has mentioned yet.

Tackie certainly had his moments. He hurt hatton to the body, but Mickey Vann was on his case a lot. Still a great win for Ricky. Now, if only he'd give up that bloody WBU title.

Hatton did superb but i agree he was occasionally hurt especially to the body, it got to a point when i thought one more body attack might have Ricky down. I took every body shot with him! He did a very good job of jabbing and moving and threw a lot at a very tough but limited foe in Ben Tackie. Hatton needs to look for more world level opponents now, maybe Vivian Harris or a tune up against someone like Omar Weiss perhaps?

mr bassie: i know when u look at my name it doesn't exactly fill u with confidence i'm going to be partial but 116-114 is crazy scoring it was nowhere near that close :x i accept tackie hurt hatton not denying that he hurt him twice for me once when he tagged him with a right hander at the beginning of rd 11 and once in rd 12 when he shook him slightly with another right but that doesn't mean the fight was that bloody close

Bit late I know but my tuppence worth on Hatton and last Saturday....

Personally I thought Hatton did a good job on Tackie emulating the dominance with which Tszyu handled the Ghanian although in a different manner style-wise.

What worries about Hatton (aside from the cuts) at the very creme de la creme level is his seeming lack of genuine KO power. Whilst I would certainly not wish to have been hit by him he really whacked Tackie several times with full blooded shots and although he stiffened his legs on a few occasions didn't really look like getting hom out of there.

Now I know Tackie is renowned for having a super chin but this isn't the first time I've thought this, even Hatton's stoppage victories over the last couple of years have come by way of wearing them down with a volume of shots (Rios and that Russian chap who's name evades me), he has only really managed to blow away the likes of Stephen Smith and Hutchinson. Still I suppose Gatti couldn't stop Hutchinson and many are looking at Gatti as a top 5 operator.

I think Hatton did prove he belongs in world class though which many people said he did not....

I agree with you about the punch power, Gatti fought Hutchinson before he'd settled as a 140 lb'er. I don't think Hatton hits as hard as Gatti.
That punch that Hatton put Hutchinson down with was the best I've ever seen him throw, right on the solar plexus. Hit with a sort of arc, damn good punch, unusual impact too.
