He's acting quite a bit when I see him in interviews.Horse wrote:Can Haye act?Andypittcov wrote:From a purely boxing perspective then I can see where your coming from but I personally cannot criticise a man that's decided he doesn't need to get punched in the head for his money anymore,I'm sure he's thinking about his health and his family and knows there's other avenues to earn,he obviously sees the movies as an exciting option.

You can criticise anyone for anything, but you never come off well for doing so. If Haye retires then so what? There are plenty of boxers and fights without him.Horse wrote:If his heart isn't in it then he can be criticized for having a lack of heart.banjo wrote:What if his heart isn't in the sport? It seems to me that Haye lives in a bubble in which no-one dare suggest to him that his legacy as a heavyweight is quite insignificant. He has the power, ability and charisma to set the divison on fire and yet he is about to squander his talents by failing to do what is necessary to secure the two fights that matter. If he retires without facing the Klitschkos, boxing history will view him as an entertaining footnote.
Why does he keep banging on about his mandatories? Who cares? If this is his last year in the sport he hardly needs to keep the sanctioning bodies happy. History won't care that he beat mandatories like Ruiz and Povetkin. He is hiding behind his mandatories, shuffling along in his comfort zone when he could be racing towards greatness.

I think that depends on how a person goes about criticizing.Asterix wrote:You can criticise anyone for anything, but you never come off well for doing so.
There are plenty of boxers without him, but that doesn't mean I have to respect his decision.Asterix wrote:If Haye retires then so what? There are plenty of boxers and fights without him.

Povotkin is an excellent fighter; the bout will be good. Haye is not ready for either of the brothers and probably never will be.
Haye is not avoiding greatness; he wants to make the most of his ability and position without getting a career (life) threatening beating.

x 2 - he's either the saviour of heavy weight boxing as he claims or he's not.Jeff Thomas wrote:I'm a Big Haye fan- and I hate to say this, but his foray into heavyweight boxing really has no value historically. If he's not going to fight the Klitchko brothers he may as well retire now with his cruiserweight legacy intact and all his faculties.
Great shame- most thought he'd be the man to rekindle interest in heavyweight boxing- but the reality is its not going to happen. Even if the two fights were with the Klitchko's and he beat them both- he retires and where does that leave us?
Congrats to Haye for what he HAS done, which has being hugely impressive and history will be kind- but if your going to retire without fighting the Klitchko's save us the two walk out bouts and let us try and find a fighter who IS interested in achieveing heavyweight greatness-
He has everything that would make people want to watch his fights, but he needs to give us some epics. He could do it in 3 fights (povetkin, wlad & vitali) and be legend in the UK and a big name world wide, or he could fight povetkin and wlad and be a big name in the UK - anything less and only the boxing fans will remember him and alot of them will be harsh critics..
He's got to decide what he wants and postponing his retirement by a couple of months, if he manages to beat one of the klits to fight the other - is something he owes boxing and his fans imo.
If he isnt going to fight either klit he may as well pack up now - he earned enough money from his fans fighting Audley. theres no point taking more of our money for below par fights.

Povetkin is a good step up, but if he doesn't get some Klit, then history won't look back kindly on him, IMO.
Re: Haye: Two more fights and thats it !
For me povetkin is the fight that would anounce him to the world as a geniune champion at Heavy weight if he wins in style. I really want to see that fight happen - but it only serves its purpose if it the prelude to him fighting the klits.Dioufy wrote:Povetkin is a good step up, but if he doesn't get some Klit, then history won't look back kindly on him, IMO.
Im not to fussed about seeing him fight chagaev, but if he's the manditory theres not alot haye can do about that.
Re: Haye: Two more fights and thats it !
Povetkin is definitely better than Mormeck.

Trust me, you'll never look good whinging about him.Horse wrote:I think that depends on how a person goes about criticizing.Asterix wrote:You can criticise anyone for anything, but you never come off well for doing so.

Whinging and criticizing are not necessarily the same.Asterix wrote:Trust me, you'll never look good whinging about him.

I don't respect his decision and if others think that makes me look bad then I don't really care.Asterix wrote:I was referring to you saying you don't have to respect his decision.
