Youve to worry about Larry's chin after last night im afraid. They didnt look huge shots that had him going, decent but not massive. The type that bounced off Fury and Williams all night long.I hope Larry is o.k and we hear from him again soon,McDermott is not a bad fighter.

You are a good guy but when did you say Larry O wouldn't go far? I have never seen you write that.

John McDermott is a damn good fighter and there is no shame in what happened last night. It is heavyweight boxing and it happens! Larry should dust himself down and keep going because he is going to take a few good scalps in the next few years - he is brave, fit and aggressive, McDermott was too slick and experienced for Larry at this stage of the game. The points loss to Peret was ten times worse than last nights result in my opinion. Larry can bounce back from this. :TU:

Seen him box a couple of times and thought he was a knockout waiting to happen. Very raw, open and a seasoned pro like McDermott was always going to give him big problems. Shame as he obviously works very hard and is in great shape, but at the end of the day never thought he'd do that well once he stepped up. Back to the drawing board and hope he can learn from last night. Really needs to work on his defence.

I haven't seen too much of Larry but in the short time last night's fight lasted I noted that he was wasting energy on herky jerky moves that seemed to lack thought or purpose. He had zero composure and looked off balance. Maybe this was down to nerves I don't know, but I would like to see him take a more considered, patient approach if he can in future. I wish him all the best anyway.

Frank Maloney says in another thread that fight was getting made when Larry was with him, so its not as if Warren was alone in thinking it was doable. I don't see it as Larry getting thrown to the wolves, although I was massively surprised by the outcome, I thought McDermott would try to outlast Larry, not fight fire with fire as he did.

Whether this shows Larry's level or if it is just one of those things, remains to be seen - it certainly hasn't done McDermotts rep on here any harm that he was sparked by Skelton earlier in his career, at 32 Larry has plenty of time as a Heavy to regroup, and as people have said, he is a nice bloke, as is John, and I hope they both have plenty of future luck.

certainly hurts boxing...his bills are awful...that kind of monopoly is ruinous in all sports

anyway theres a karma thing at work as well...remember what happened to Khan when he switched from itv to sky

The big man has shown plenty of improvement since his first loss but seem to throw everything he had learnt to one side in a attempt to get an early KO. Of course this has worked at a lower level but Big John has always been very under rated in my book and Larry played straight into his hands. i was shocked with the way he came out the blocks straight at McDermott when i had thought he would of started at a slower pace to have a look at John. A hard lesson has been learnt the painful way and lets hope it doesnt put the big man off as he can still come back and has plenty to still offer the sport.
McDermott's problem has always been conditioning in my opinion - he's always had decent level skills and a bit of a dig. And to be fair to Larry, who I hope will come back from this, he was tagged with some huge shots and showed the heart to keep getting up.

Lefty your a nice enough lad but i dont get why you started this thread minuttes after writing on another thread in reply to a post of mine that after last night you still thought he would win a british title , Do you think winning a British title isnt going far ???? , in my opinion if anyone wins a british title theyve done pretty damn well , and despite all this conversation i dont think Larry can win a British now , i thought he had a punchers chance before but i would be very surprised now to see him win a Lonsdale belt , He May just fall short , Hes a nice enough guy and i do actually hope he proves me wrong but thats my opinion

I wish Larry all the best, hope he can learn from it. Possibly best to take his time before getting back in the saddle - quality sparring and get the confidence back. There must be lots of doubts and dare I say, other fighters will be questioning his chin. Larry needs to build it up again, but slowly away from the crowd.

BTW, Larry and the ref seemed to be getting a little heated during the MC announcing the winner. Clearly was the right decision, if anything it was stopped too late.

I thought i wrote this thread before actually but you may be right!Anyway Damian i didnt mean to be offensive with this thread but i could of worded it better thats for sure.As for winning the british title i think he can win it but he needs to work intensely on improving his boxing skills to achieve that,he's 32 and in the heavyweight division that isnt that old so he's still got time to do it and i hope he does because he's a decent guy who's always easy going on here!P.s here was what i was referring to when i said i didnt see him going that far http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=133435 ....you were the first to reply to it at the time.

Well done John. Nice to see a good bloke get a break.

@4:07, anyone tell Frank that from the back his brown coat looks like a monk's habit? I kept wondering why the Friar didn't have a tonsure, then I realised who it was!

EDIT: Actually, now I think of it, Frank looks a bit like the villain from Don't Look Now. Only brown.

I noticed Frank's outfit, very different from the Union Jack one. Was he cold at all?

I still maintain it was a tribute:

I mean, I know it's the wrong colour, but the design, the height of the wearer... Everything else fits!
