Of course. He didn't smash the guy Cotto wiped the floor with in Jennings, or beat anyone at the level of Gomez yet, who didn't make it half way.

Pacquiao took 12 rounds, what you think for Kell, 2...3?

Isnt Cotto at 154 now?

Surprised that the two offers in question relate to LMW world champions - not welterweights.

Personally I'd love to Kell box for the European. That would then get him an automatic ranking with the other bodies (not just the WBO) and hence open up lots of options and potential routes. He's stuck behind Pacman right now and there doesnt seem to be any prospect of Pacman vacating - and why would the WBO strip him?

So i personally think he needs to look at all options open to him.

I doubt that Matt Hatton would box Kell but if does well against Alvarez you never know, he might get a shot at a 147 world title - where would that leave him with the European. He could vacate that and leave a gap for Kell.

Anyone know if Kell is ranked for the European or if FW has ever put him forward for this belt?

Would you now?

I wouldn't. Infact, I see Kell losing that one badly, getting destroyed.

K9 would twat him, too. Jones would also beat him. He has too much speed for Kell.

Why are people going so overboard about Kell? Nice guy, but c'mon, Cotto? No way....ever.

Sorry fella, couldn't disagree more. Cotto is far more talented that Kell. He is also more experienced, fighting former world champs and world champs etc all the way through his career.

Kell would do well to last 5 rounds with him. He would take a bad beating.

Cotto is obviously more experienced and prob would win if they met now BUT i give kell a chance - and i can you for a fact Kell would love to box him.

I dont agree, though, that Cotto is necessarily more talented. I think Kell has exceptional talent and should go on to be a great fighter.

I've personally always thought that Cotto was ever so slighty overrated.

You dont think Cotto is more talented than Brook???

Nothing Brook has done or shown even compares to anything that Cotto has done. Not sure where your evidence for any of this is?

Listen, I like Brook, but am trying to be objective here. It appears that I wont win as we have a fair few Brook fans posting in this thread, so my arguments wont actually go anywhere. I'll leave it there.

Cotto has been a very good champion, i think Kell can aspire to a similar level.

What's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with can, although it's optimistic because so few do. The problem is that he hasn't yet faced anyone in the same stratosphere in quality terms and already we hear things like Kell will smash him.

i agree, that is daft talk.

but i do think kell has the potential to become exceptional in due course - he has the tools. but only time will tell. for reasons often discussed on here, kell has simply not been stretched yet and until that happens we wont know for sure ...

I don't think it's deluded to think Brook can achieve half of what Cotto can achieve? He is a great prospect with a great dig and some nice skills, but he needs nurturing and the right fights at the right time.

I like Brook, he looks like he could become a big name, but Cotto is way to big a jump in class.

Brook beating Cotto? Statto maybe, but not one of the finest exponents of the past decade.

I don't see Brook being any more talented than the crop of LMW's (Williams, Takaloo, Alexander et al) who were al touted for major honours but got found out on the fringes of world class).

I know mentioning 'The Secret' has a tendency to backfire.

If Brook doesn't fight someone as good or better than Craig Watson in his next fight then he deserves some serious stick.

Brook has been trading on potential for just a little too long now. There comes a point in any young fighters career that the potential shown in developmental fights has to be turned into performances against increasingly tough opponents. I really want to get behind Brook but his current lack of progression leaves me a little disinterested.

x2

And anyone who thinks Brook has a chance vs Cotto needs their head read. Based on what?

Bundrage is enough of a test for him at this point; who has he beaten? (convincingly)

Cotto may be a leap of faith for Kell at the moment, but he desperately needs to move on to World level asap.

Kell's being lying stagnant for a few years now IMO, he needs to move on even if it is a very difficult fight with someone like Cotto (not that I expect that fight to happen).

Come on Franky-babes get somone decent over for Kell to beat up
