Hmmm. He's very heavy-handed & strong as a horse but I don't think the kiddie is in the same league as say, Rosario or Durán for one-shot hitting. Katsidis' technique lets him down when he throws punches, if he could actually somehow transfer all that strength (his back's wider than mine, FFS) all the way through his shots without squaring up so much & squandering the torque, he'd probably kill people.

Thinking about it, I might make actually make JMM a harder puncher at the weight than Kats is, you know (just remembering all those left hooks to the body)...

For a short time in the early 70's he was seen to be the biggest hitter around, along with Foreman and Shavers ( whose jaw he broke in sparring ) and I recall Larry Holmes saying Jeff was the hardest puncher he ever sparred with ( and also the craziest ) but drugs, prison, Don King and a less that iron jaw saw him consigned to oblivion, last seen begging in Las Vegas.

at featherweight, the young Bobby Chacon could seriously crack with the left hook, right up there with just about anyone I'd say.

Yeah the boy (Candy Slim) could punch for sure but it's hard to really place him in an overall list as he burnt out so quickly. Definitely out there. Liston deserves a shout too but it becomes a scramble then and you maybe have to start naming guys like Mac Foster, Al Lewis, Leotis Martin, Lyle, Ingo & Dempsey.

Foreman said Lyle hit him the hardest he had ever been hit.

Norton, Young, Ali, Lyle & Holmes all said Shavers hit them the hardest, no question.

LaMarr Clark is another who is often quoted when talking about punchers and knock-out streaks but he was mostly fighting cans in tank towns so can largely be discounted.

There's a nice clear Youtube vid somewhere, the sweetfights version, of Ingo knocking out Eddie Machen (I think it's Eddie Machen, he does the kiddie in a round) & fvck me you can see why some old-timers went on about that right hand.

For a fourteen-stone odd guy, that cross looked like a bloody Excocet.

Yeah, there's a fairly long article on CBZ I think with a lot of points made by Alan Sugar (the ref)...I think anyway, my memory's not great on articles I've read once but basically he makes the case for Ingo being one of the biggest one punch hitters in history, particularly with the right hand - short, quick, very powerful...and from a small guy too.

No doubt. He bounced Danny Lopez around for shits and giggles.

I've gotta big up my man Olivares, the boy had some crazy power in both hands but the left hook in particular. At one point he was 51-0-1 with 49 KOs.

How's this for a fighter who never gets mentioned. Khaosai Galaxy... He brutalised many a challenger during his reign of terror in the 80s. Hard... as... nails!

Julian Jackson though was something else... heaven knows what he'd have been like if he could have seen properly... the Herol Graham knockout is as clear in my mind today as it's absent in Graham's to this day!!!

Safe to say the two biggest punchers P4P today come out of the Philippines. And for my money, Donaire looks an even bigger puncher than Manny.

I disagree, he's blown away everyone at cruiser, been the only man to wobble Valuev (badly) and Ruiz had a decent beard. Like him or loathe him, I don't think anyone can deny that he is a massive puncher.

Greatest battle of the punchers has to be The battle of the Z boys, Bantam unification match that saw Carlos Zarate 38-0, 37 knockouts v the murderous punching Alfonso Zamora 29-0, with 29 knockouts. A combined record of 67-0 with 66 knockouts. Wow. Imagine that kind of matchup these days...and it wasn't even PPV.
Plus a mad Ninja jumps into the ring mid-way, and starts shaping up kung fu style, before disappearing under a mob of LA's finest, never to be seen again.
