The Gilf is banned from all awards competitions because he is just too damned good for the opposition. Where is he by the way? His thread's been dead for a while now.Scottrf wrote:Why isn't Scott Gilford on the shortlist?
Is his ghost writing for 'a British Monthly Boxing Magazine' still being kept a secret?Glyn Leach wrote:The Gilf is banned from all awards competitions because he is just too damned good for the opposition. It's quite funny to reflect that I once received an irate phone call from a well-known match-maker deriding McNeilly and the rest of the crew as 'wannabe, know-nothing geeks sat at home in their bedsits on their PCs all night ... not proper journos at all'
Just shows how wrong you can be!

Keep up the good work
Is he the guy that loves English fighters? Always going on about how Froch will be 'exposed, and knocked out' in his next fight? I tell you what, if he did get on the shortlist, they'd surely sell a few tables - I'd definitely book the one next to his.Glyn Leach wrote:Ssssh!Scottrf wrote:Is his ghost writing for 'a British Monthly Boxing Magazine' still being kept a secret?Glyn Leach wrote: The Gilf is banned from all awards competitions because he is just too damned good for the opposition. Does that include the bloke that used to play drums in '70s Midlands pop icons Slade, Don Powell?Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Rarely have I felt so close to death as I did on that train home from London after that night out with you lunaticsJ wrote:he looks nigh on 60 after ive finished with the poor old bugger on a night out...speaking of which Ian get my note on my bro's fight april 8th....york hall coming?![]()
Can't make it at the moment mate but if things change will certainly let you know.
As for The Gilf - he's banned in order to keep the competition fair. No one wants to see the same winner every year.
As for certain matchmakers/promoters - I have a good relationship with almost all of them
