your memory and mine are playing very similar tricks, if so....
secret Calzaghe fan. interesting..... no room for you on his nuts, though, not with the way I am swining from them on the regular.orbtastic wrote:That's my memory, topped up by watching it only last week.
I also watched all his ABA performances - Jason Matthews, Glen Catley etc etc. Decimated them.
I found interesing Harry Carpenter's comments about Calzaghe being warned for "slapping" way back in the run-up to his 2nd ABA final.Counter-puncher wrote:secret Calzaghe fan. interesting..... no room for you on his nuts, though, not with the way I am swining from them on the regular.orbtastic wrote:That's my memory, topped up by watching it only last week.

Thanks, I was trying to think of the other guy. Francis was it. He took a pretty quick thumping.simon fox wrote:Dean Francis etc etc; Mark Delaney was a real hard nut, never been dropped and was very strong. Calzaghe dropped him in the first round and bust him up. I was very impressed. He had shocking power and weren't heavily muscled.
Awesome stuff. i really have to sort out a fight library...orbtastic wrote:That's my memory, topped up by watching it only last week.

Im sure he got took the distance in a welsh final..to long ago to remember who..simon fox wrote:Glen Catley was the only man to take Joe the full 3 x 3 mins in 3 years of ABA title runs.
I'd forgotten there were two Delaneys, typicalorbtastic wrote:Thanks, I was trying to think of the other guy. Francis was it. Both Delaneys were looking like prospects at one point, Garry before making light heavy got too much, in particular. His KO of Agrimonda Chiponda was spectacular.
Didn't he stop Catley at some point during the ams though - can't remember what's making me think that, but just got it in my head there was a stoppage win over Glen as well?simon fox wrote:Glen Catley was the only man to take Joe the full 3 x 3 mins in 3 years of ABA title runs.
Michael Smyth beat him in the Welsh ABAs.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Im sure he got took the distance in a welsh final..to long ago to remember who..simon fox wrote:Glen Catley was the only man to take Joe the full 3 x 3 mins in 3 years of ABA title runs.
Joe beat Smyth the year before in 1989 by stoppage he also beat a romanian boxer called Adrian Opreda in the same Four Nation Juniors tournemant, but lost to both of them on points in 1990orbtastic wrote:Michael Smyth beat him in the Welsh ABAs.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Im sure he got took the distance in a welsh final..to long ago to remember who..simon fox wrote:Glen Catley was the only man to take Joe the full 3 x 3 mins in 3 years of ABA title runs.
Catley was stopped in his second senior ABA run (light middle).

tony quigley and joey ainscough have to fight a 4 rounder in manchester tomorrow to prove to the board they can compete in the next prizefighter.chiggsy wrote:Has the full line up been announced for prize fighter yet?
Know there's quigley, dilks, aidrian dodson and reid so far.
Old bones Ian wrote:Well 41 year old Adrian Dodson is trying to make the supermiddle prizefighter, he makes his return in a 4 rounder this weekend in Liverpool. If he comes through that unscathed and in some sort of form the Board will allow him to enter Prizefighter.
Dodson last fought in 2003, if he makes it to prizefighter he will join the other oldies in Patrick J. Maxwell and Robin Reid.
