Darke is so likeable, great knowledge and was a fine balance of enthusiasm and insight. Really liked him, he was the soundtrack to so many great fights in the 1990s/2000s.

Especially those of Naz and Lewis.

Still remember Naz slagging him off, think it was after the McCullough or Ingle fight?

"Yeah, whatever Curly"...and walked off after Darke had asked him about the crowd booing or something.

In fairness he later apologised but that was around the time he started to disappear up his own backside.

Johnny is superb, a tad inexperienced but like Jamie Redknapp on the Football that will come and he will be the face of Sky Boxing for many years. A great discovery for Sky and to talk of dropping him would be ludicrous.

Yep. I cannot understand why, when they have the cameras there, they sometimes don't show (or even record) the full undercards. Surely some 'red button' shit that lets you watch the undercard wouldn't be too much to ask? Or show it later. They were standing there rabbiting the other month when we could have been watching Martin Concepcion being knocked out.

As far as the commentary team are concerned, its all down to personal taste as to whether you 'like' someone or not - Johnny Nelson does indeed state the obvious sometimes, but I quite like the bloke. Adam Smith may well turn out to be an excellent head of boxing (especially if he gets the next couple of Froch fights) but for me, he's a pretty awful presenter, and just doesn't seem to fit in. Jamie Moore does a good job when he's on, and at least I can remember some of his fights. Ed Winchester does a good job too, and I reckon he'd make a good Anchor.

As for Watt, Biggun, Woodhall and McCrory, I am not keen at all - far too many ex-boxers for me.
I would like to see a ref, a well known trainer and maybe even promoter on there regularly (Biggun doesn't count).

Amen to this :TU:

No thanks to this. I love Buncey's knowledge and enthusiasm for the game but in my humble opinion he was pretty terrible last time he was a tv commentator (premier sports - Hennessy bill).
I agree. Leave Buncey on the radio where we can forget about the waving arms and the mad gurning face. Trust me. Adios.

Who should they replace him with?

I think Richie Woodhall should do more Ringside stuff and live interviews, no showing off therefore no cringing at the tv anymore.
i must admit i get impulses such as wtf is this lisping slurring stuttering bloke who seems to have problems reading an autocue doing presenting a tv magazine show! than i tell my evil side to shut up......nelson was a distinguished cruiser world champ......hes learning a new vocation....he tries hard and is honest and a likeable person.....its smiths fault for throwing him in at the deep end. So early.....and i dont like to see anyone lose their job unfairly.......i do think adam smith has made a big mistake championing nelson as a tv anchor....at the moment hes made to look more wanker than anchor on ringside despite improving for a few weeks he seems to be falling apart lately imo.....i think johhny is a good man and he should be allowed to be more of a pundit and perhaps colour man rather than a tv anchor journalist and presenter....its clear he isnt being allowed to ask the hard questions for fear of losing his job....and he doesnt have training.....lets not be nasty to the man you could say the same things about mcrory, and any other number of sky boxingpundits.....its just johhny has had the biggest push and right now he isnt up to it...that may change i say give him a chance cos i cant see any othwer boxer doing this job its a trained t presenters job........anyway nelson may improve and may one day be able to do it on his own certainly if he puts in the same effort he did to become champ

I like Nelson a lot actually. I think he does a decent job and I met him at the Froch v Rybacki fight at Nottingham Arena 3 years ago and he was genuinely one of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet and spent about 20 mins chatting with me and my mate. Top man.

Ha ha, that is true! But just the same as Jim and his 'arrrrrrrrrrrrrm' punches, they're both right when they're using them.

Watt gets far too much stick, he's excellent IMO.

Johnny knows the game from top to bottom, I'd like to see Buncey on as he brings something different too but like I've stated I'd love to see Ed Robinson given more airtime, really knows his stuff an has a deep passion for the game.. McCory also makes a lot of sense too..

I like Johnny nelson, sometimes he can be a tit but so can all of them. I think it's pretty harsh trying to call for a man's job on an internet forum.

I say keep the team as it is a few people have mentioned adam smith in this thread so heres my two penneth

. In a strange kind of way I like adam smiths delivery and puppet swivel neck movements. The mrs always says the wierd guy is on again. I would miss that if he went behind the scenes.

Sometimes when nelson is talking with boxers you get the impression he is really thinking what can i add to this and he ends up just blurting something out that really railroads the main point.

He means well bless him. Keep him and nelson for me

Its what im used too.

Yeah good call. How's about Sky reinvesting some of the ludicrous amounts of money they get from boxing PPV events and give us an undercard on that red button shit

Perhaps he's bi? His nickname had to come from somewhere.

Why Catley, LC? I've always liked Glenn, but I thought he'd moved on from boxing after his brief comeback?

Nelson's a decent guy and he's nowhere near as bad as McCrory, but people are saying "give him time" and proposing he'll get better when he's already been doing it for about 5/6 years. Or is it longer?

They could do with some new blood, some fighters who are recently retired. Jamie Moore for example, or Jon Thaxton maybe?

Not guys who fought 20 years ago and are out of touch with the game.

Not Thaxton PLEEEEEEAAASE!!! If Thaxton got involved then I'd stop watching.

I know he's a nice guy, and he had a good career so he'd have an insight, but I've never heard anyone so annoying when interviewed.

I used to like Buncey's Setanta show, I'd like to see him on Sky. Plus he's as enthusiastic as anyone else!

Id like thaxton, seems like a good guy and has good boxing knowledge when ive seen him interviewed!Jamies doing a good job so far and he's only been doing a little while!I dont think he's far behind nelson, mccrory, etc and he has nowhere near the experience they have on tv.
