If it was simply a mistake then someone should come out and say so and apologise profusely to Wayne and his team, if there are new rules where someone can get his ears boxed off and put down in the same round and still get 10 points then I must've missed it
I thought the reason he scored the last round so badly was because the judges were asked not to score PrizeFighter fights as draws.

If that is the case he can be forgiven because of those silly demands.

If he genuinely thought the last round was 10-10 then that is far worse and he should be severely punished.

If he wanted to score the fight a draw, but was under orders not to then surely he should have given the fight to whoever by 1 point, not 2 (30-28).

Whatever the reason was for the abysmal scoring, there should be an explanation. As IJL posted an impossible scorecard

My god with all the world class refs we have on here the future looks bright, out of all of you who commented on this how many are qualified refs? So he had the fight the other way, that is why there are 3 judges surely. If it was as comfortable a win as you all think why did Wayne not win on a split decision having 2 refs score for him? For all the complaining why not write in to the BBBoC offering your services?

I think a lot of people are complaining about the round where Reed was winning scored a knockdown and still did not win the round??
The same round that all the commentators and many respected fight people could not fathom being scored that way,but so sorry for complaining about something that 99 out of 100 people agree was ludicrous.
BTW how did you score that last round 10.10?

I suppose we can't talk about boxing unless we are boxers either.

Because two of the judges got it wrong. That is why we are complaining.

Did you watch the fight?

Wayne won the bout from around the 1st minute of the 2nd round round. He out manouvered Joe and hit him some spiteful back hands. Joe walked onto shots and did well to not go down more than once. I really thought that Wayne had won the bout; I've not seen him box before but he is a good, strong fighter. He should be on TV. Joe did well to last it; you could see how relieved he was for the decision. The wrong decision was made, whether by judges mistakes or systemic failure (IMO).

You can talk about boxing of course you are a fan, so now we have gone from ISJ getting the third round wrong to 2 judges getting the whole fight wrong!! Yes I watched the fight, I watched it after getting in from a Newport bill that was very enjoyable (oh the joys of attending shows and also Sky Plus 8) ) and from the comfort of my armchair, feet up wil a JD in hand I scored the last round 10/8 to Wayne, the whole fight I had 29/28 to Wayne but that is just me and my thought of a fight. At ringside you do miss things, "fact" the action may have been the wrong side, the ref could have been in the way for a few punches (this happens a lot, as much as refs rty to stay out of the way they do walk around the ring a lot and get in the way of judges at ringside) I am not making excuses and have said that with the perfect seat (my armchair) I had Wayne winning. I also understand that the judge may have missed a few punches but how or why did he not score the KD I don't know? If a mistake was made then it should have been announced but as already stated a judge DO NOT have to score a KD if he feels it was not legitimate AND IT IS DOWN TO HIS JUDGMENT.

If a ref scores every round of a fight to guy who clearly loses every round ITS STILL DOWN TO HIS JUDGEMENT
Doesnt mean its right tho and shouting doesnt make it right.
He made a mistake everyone saw it and JUST BECAUSE ITS DOWN TO HIS JUDGEMENT doesnt mean its not wrong and doesnt people shouldnt pull him up on it.

As I said I agree that Wayne won the fight but think it was closer than a lot of people think, if in the refs judgement (shouting or not, apologies if caps offended you) he deemed that it was not a legitimate KD then he will score as such. I am sure he will be questioned about the scoring and will give his reasons but just like in any sport the decision is final and will stand.

Weekend soon so have a good one :TU:

Ed Robinson said on Ringside that the BBBC are going to look into what happened, they've been reading our thread :OhYes:

In order to satisfy my unhappiness at this, the BBBC need to explain how the following happened.

IJL compiled a scorecard, probably under pressure to avoid a draw, that given the scoring rules is impossible given a legitimate knockdown. When he submitted it, he knew it was wrong. I don't know the exact process, but do cards get checked and compiled before being read out? If so, the person or persons doing this knew the card was wrong yet ignored it. The MC on the night has been around the game long enough to know how to score a fight so when he read it out, he knew it was wrong. The reaction of everyone in the ring (including both boxers) and at ringside made it clear that it was wrong. The commentary team called it strange and unlikely so they knew it was wrong and every single person watching on TV or at the venue knew it was wrong.

And now the BBBC say they are going to investigate it? Huh? Why couldn't someone have intervened on the night? What about someone from Matchroom? There was ample opportunity for someone to admit to a mistake and rectify it. If that meant Reed won or it was a Draw, so be it - make the necessary adjustments and move on with the night. A corrected result that shows up a mistake is far better than an uncorrected one that attempts (weakly) to conceal one.

Surely Mr Hearn knows that this kind of event damages the credibility of the event more than a draw being scored? I'm quite excited about the forthcoming Prizefighters, especially the International Heavyweight version, but I also know that in a 3 round fight, with one knockdown but 2 rounds going the other way, the scoring will be manipulated to deliver a result for the format rather than the correct result.

I just saw that fight. That was a real good knockdown. John-Lewis is a disgrace.

I didn't think it was down the judges judgement, if the ref scored it a KD - indicated by a count, then judges must do the same - thats what I've always thought anyway.

Similarly, if a ref calls a legitimate KD a slip, then the judges cannot call it a KD.

Heard on Ringside that IJL has had his 'knuckles rapped' by the BBBC for his special scorecard

Most fans posting seem to be bending over backwards to offer balanced views - but just add IJL to the list that includes O'Connor and Parris and there you have British boxing in a nutshell.

If the referee counts for a knockdown, the judges must score it accordingly and score for a knockdown, it cant be ignored
so 10-10 is completely wrong!
